I a,m considering buying a new I-pad. I am not real computer saavy.?

I am not elderly but old enough to be considered computer illiterate by salespeople-at a big box store, and by the apple number I called. I would ask them (the apple person) and would hear dead silence for a while then get the "what are you asking?" type of response. I at this time am just trying to figure out the difference between the two models of the new i-pad. We do not own anything apple except an i-pod. As I understand it the only difference is wi-fi and 4-g capability. Could someone be so kind as to explain to me briefly what these things are--(I sort of get wi-fi) --and why they are or would be advantageous. and if there are any other glaring differencesa between the models. Thank You.

You should be fine. I got my 70-year old Grandmother an iPad, and she uses it just fine.

The difference between Wifi-Only and 4G is that Wifi-Only is dependent on a wireless signal from somewhere like your home network, starbucks, or McDonalds. Where you can connect and get the internet ONLY when you are connected to something that sends out a signal.

4G capability is basically a cell-phone number and capability for your iPad. So you can have wireless internet anywhere there is cell reception. It's useful if you travel a lot and not at home or anywhere there is wireless internet.

Yes I've met those I would consider real friends..a few of which we now telephone occasionally. I think it is very possible to form real friendships online so long as the people are being honest with each other. I met my husband online 12 yrs ago so I know it's possible.

First you have is the memory. 16GB, 32GB, 64GB

The larger the number the more info, apps, games, photos, video, etc you can have on the device.

Wi-fi = Wireless Internet, you have to be in a place that is a wi-fi hot spot/open. Wi-fi is where there is an internet connection from a cable, or home/business phone company connected to an wi-fi router. some grenal places that will have wi-fi hot spots are coffee shops, libraries, some fast food places, some hotels, bars, and bookstores.

The wi-fi + 4-g capability the iPad can connect to the internet through the cell phone towers of at&t or Verizon depending on the modal you buy. places this will be necessarily your home if you do not have internet, supermarkets, if you are use as a gps, the beach, Disney world resorts, other peoples homes, work, etc. if you have AT&T or Verizon for your cellphone then get that iPad. Other wise pick the one you want.

the only other thing to worry about is white or black.

    Yep, the main differences are:

-4g capability on the New iPad (iPad 3) --- Faster internet speeds (up to 100Mbit/s

-Upgraded resolution (2048×1536 instead of 1024x768) --- Super Duper clear screen

-Upgraded processor (dual core Apple A5X) --- Faster

-1080p instead of 720p video recording ability --- Higher quality video

To be honest though, unless you are a hardcore gamer (doubt it no offense) you won't get any utility out of the improved resolution and processor, it just isn't worth the extra $100.

Also, if you plan on getting the WiFi only version, I would recommend iPad2 because there is no advantage (speed wise) if you get the iPad 3. If you do however plan on streaming HD video and are considering getting a data plan, you may want to consider getting the new iPad because 4G speeds are about 10 times faster than 3G speeds.
