Mercedes engine swap Is it possible to install a M119 or M120 to fit in a 320 HB?
A friend of mine has a grip of money and has his mind fixed on making a high powered little Mercedes Hatchback. Will I be able to fit a MBZ 5 liter (Kompressor) (M119) or a 6 liter (M120) in a 320 hatchback What about transmissions? Will they all bolt up?
Yes you assumed correct sorry I completely forgot to list the chassis. I must say, I was afraid I might not get a worthy answer but I got a great one. Yes I had a feeling with the length of the M120 crankshaft LOL that a good portion of the engine would not be close. Yes the C55 of course! Wow and the M113 is a great engine too. I think it is the block that is designated for the McLaren. Thanks for your time!

I'm assuming you mean a 203 chassis coupe?
If so, Benz did have the C55 (also a W203) which stuffed a naturally aspirated V8 under the hood. That engine was a M113 V8 though, not a M119 V8 (which Benz never offered with forced induction by the way). The M120 V12 wouldn't fit at all. Look under the hood of a W140 or R129 chassis to see how it is literally shoe-horned into those larger engine bays and you will quickly see how it's much too big to fit in a W203 chassis.
