Is it me or is a Catholic school's football team being named the Crusaders ignorant?
I didn't think the Crusades were something Catholics would proud of. I don't know that much about it I thought the crusades were a bad thing.

I think the first answer is ignorant. 8^P
I think Catholics naming their team the Crusaders is telling. It's not about right or wrong, it's just Hooray For Our Team, and suggesting that God favors them because they play for a religious school. If I was Catholic I'd see the Crusades (and the Inquisition) as embarrassments. But it's easier, and more enjoyable, and more unifying, to be proud of something than embarrassed about something.
Besides, The Crusaders allows them to use all that great imagery--swords and shields and armor and knights on horseback. What else could you use that was related to the Catholic Church? The Saints? The Altar-Boys? The Monks? 8^\

The Crusades started in response to Muslims slaughtering the Christians in Jerusalem, so the crusades were just defending themselves against invaders.

The Crusades were not a bad thing as they freed the Middle East of Muslim dominance and allowed freedom of worship in Jerusalem. God bless!

Crusades were a good thing. Crusades were in defense of Christians in the middleast, Spain, Portugal, Sicily, Malta, Cyprus and southern Italy when the Sejuk Turks attacked the Byzantine Empire.
If it wasnt for the Crusades, Europe would look a lot different, no mona lisa, no eiffel tower, no soccer.

haha, never thought of that but, yes, I'd certainly say so. I went to football camp one summer at a Christian College who's mascot was a Crusader.
Why stop at Crusader? Why not have Inquisitors as mascots? The logo could be the rack.

If not for the crusades trade would not have kicked off as much as it did, and we wouldn't have things such as sugar cane, cinnamon, and other spices.

Yes it is YOU, you're simply ignorant. The Crusades were entirely defensive. They only took back lands they had controlled from Roman times. The Crusades never took "extra" lands and gave up much simply for the sake of peace.
Only bigots and anti-religious hatemongers would see anything wrong with repelling invaders who attacked European lands while raping and pillaging them.
Perhaps there were excesses and horrors but that is war then as now. The Crusades were not an embarrassment but a necessity and to think otherwise shows a politically fascistic indoctrination or pure ignorance.
