What do wild ducks eat?

My neighbor says they are vegetarians and should be fed only corn. I say they eat bugs and worms and fish and frogs and anything they can catch. I give them dog food pellets and she gives them hard cracked corn.

Update:

Cute! Garin! These are eating car tires...the hard way.. They live in the park.

They eat a wild variety of things including snails, worms, seeds, grains, grasses, small fish etc so your neighbour is incorrect.

ducks can devour a style of issues, which includes: Small fish and fish eggs Snails, worms and molluscs Small crustaceans Grass and weeds Algae and aquatic plant life Frogs, salamanders and different amphibians Aquatic and land insects Seeds and grain Small berries or end result Bread is totally no longer good for ducks. It has little or no nutritional fee (fairly white bread) and so ducks who stay in heavily populated factors and devour distinctive bread can grow to be very undesirable. ducks do sleep, frequently on land yet at times relax on water for short sessions. at the same time as they sleep they tuck their head lower than their wing.

Does it really matter what they eat? You aren't supposed to feeding the ducks anyway... can't you read the sign?

And how do you consider hand-fed ducks in a park of all places "wild"?

They are omnivores. Dog food is not appropriate for them.
