I don't want to go to prom but my mom is pressuring me?

I'm a senior in HS. A few days ago, I asked the girl I have a crush on to go to prom with me and she turned me down, saying that if she does go, she wants to go with her friends and that she really just doesn't want to date at the moment. I've never really been into the dances, I prefer playing sports like Football and Rugby and other ways of being active in my school. The only problem is, my mom doesn't know my girl rejected me (and I don't plan on telling her). She is pressuring me to go, saying it's my senior prom, but I really don't want to go. What should I do?
