Is there such things as irregular contractions?
I've been getting these pains that are quite sharp just above my pubic bone and slightly in my back passage (sorry if tmi) and i've had to breathe through most of them, the thing is they aren't spread out evenly timewise and some are short and some are longer, but they still hurt. Could these be contractions?
Nobody likes being given links, could I have the info.
Well they do build up and slow down, I have to breathe through them and find it hard to talk during them, they are just irregulary spaced apart and last about 30 secs, they can be 15 mins apart or 10, but I havent really been timing them. Should I wait tio they are more regular or just call the maternity ward?

Those are scammers. They will probably steal your info if you click them.
Irregular contractions can happen a lot. Right before I had both babies my contractions were irregular for hours and then I was all of a sudden able to count them every 5 minute apart. It was like clockwork. I knew right when another one was coming. That is when you know you are ready to go to the hospital.

If the pain is sudden, sharp, shooting, and comes on quickly and only lasts a few seconds or changes when you change positions, it's not a contraction. Those are just ligament / muscle / nerve pain.
Contractions come on gradually, build to a peak, and taper off, your belly gets tight like a little ball, and they are rather painful cramps that are low and sometimes across your back. But they aren't sharp and sudden and short in duration. Contractions can be irregular, meaning that if you're timing them, they might come at 10 minutes apart, then 7 minutes, then 13 minutes, then 9 minutes, then 5 minutes, then 10 minutes again. That's classic for either Braxton Hicks or early labor, but once true, active labor sets in they will be much more consistently close together, like 4 minutes, then 2 minutes, then 5 minutes, then 3 minutes, then 4 minutes. They will last a solid 60-90 seconds in duration. Honestly, when real labor sets in, you won't have to ask "Is this it?" You'll know. If you are ever unsure, call your doctor.
If you are preterm, if you have more than 6 contractions in one hour for more than an hour after resting and hydrating yourself well, call your doctor immediately.

Both times I gave birth I had irregular contractions all of labor. The second time I gave birth when I noticed they were slightly stronger then my Braxton hicks I called my midwife and asked if I could go to the hospital even though they were very irregular when I got to the hospital I was 5-6cm dilated

contractions can start out irregularly. It's sometimes called early labour and can stop and start for days. Once you are in established labour the contractions will become regular and very clearly contractions for you. At the point you should have no doubt in your mind that baby is coming.
