If intelligent life was found on another planet?

Firstly, many religious people are not Christians.

Secondly, are there really Christians who think that this passage means that we look like God? That would imply that God is a physical object. I suppose it is conceivable that there is a Christian somewhere who believes that, but I have never heard of it.

When intelligent life is found on other planets, it will simply be more confirmation of the validity of the Baha'i Faith. Others are the discovery of the Big Bang, atomic energy, quantum physics and the discovery that some cancer can be transmitted by viruses. And there is much more than that.

Why would you assume that

(1) God has a physical presence or physical attributes?

(2) When it states we are created in God's image it refers to our physical body?

It seems rather strange to me that you, being an apparent Atheist, has a much more limited view of what God might be than I do, and I am very much a believer. Very strange indeed.

However it is very likely that by the time intelligent life is found on another planet Christianity and atheism will both have become extinct, and most people of the world if not all of them will have embraced the Baha'i Faith.

They would have to admit that they have been misinterpreting the bible for al these years in that we were created in the image that their god thought "we" should look like. They they would say that their god perceives and created many forms of life as it did on this planet on other planets.

Religions can "evolve" when their very existence is threatened to accommodate prevailing perceptions and new discoveries they have been doing it for quite some time.

Hahaha. "We were made in the image of a "supreme being."" That's laughable. Most humans eat cow and **** it out. Have you seen some women? They carry around huge utters, and dye their hair. There are far more remarkable life possibilities that exist, and if we were made by a supreme or superior intelligence we would have those abilities.

Jesus did say "I have sheep not of this fold." I suspect He may have many creations He's not told us about. After all, the spiritual world is very separated from this seen world. Oops, but so is thought and light and radio. Oh and I forgot emotions. Hmmm guess we'll know someday. I would rather be counted in His group now then left out because I listened to unbelief.

"Created in his image" doesn't mean "looks like him."

God has no physical body - he isn't human (though that statement goes grey when you throw Christ into the mix). He doesn't look human, and humans don't look like God. There are so many reasons why that statement makes no sense - I feel dirty just saying it.

Anyway, "made in his image" refers to our souls, which are capable of understanding the universe (God) because our minds are like the universe (itty bitty versions of it). As you say, the life is intelligent. Therefore, they are also made in the image of God.

They would obviously be inferior to those who God made in his own image., like cows. Makes it handy for exploiting their planet for minerals or whatever.

If the questions got too hard, there's that never-fail fall-back, "The Lord works in mysterious ways."

they would try to make some stuff up while other religious people might stop believing in God and people might kill themselves from denile. if we know of other lifeforms in the universe the reason the governments of the world wont tell us is because of this reason.

Only our souls are made in God's image. We are human and Gid is a Spiritual Being.

You can rest assured that Christians and mohammedans will come up with some creative answers.
