DC
Hero: probably Batman, he's pretty cool in both comics and movies.
Villain: I'd probably have to say, The Joker of course, especially Heath Ledger's version.
Marvel
Hero: It'd probably say Silver Surfer. Iron Man as close second.
Villian: Definitely. Magneto. I love that guy. Galactus as my #2

DC-
Hero: Superman. Because... he's Superman. The first Superhero ever. Always on the side of good. He isn't driven by vengeance or a warped sense of guilt or because it's his job. He just saves people because he wants to do good. That's a hero.
Villain: Joker. Just like I like Superman for being good for the sake of being good, I like Joker because he's simply bad for the sake of being bad. He has no reason or motivation, just... the need to be bad. He's also a normal, though smart, human and yet he makes super-powered folk shake in their tights in fear. That's somewhat admirable.
Marvel-
Hero: X-Men. As a whole. I always felt like Marvel's great fort was their teams, not their individuals, and the X-Men are the perfect example. They're not always heroes, but they're very rarely villains. Mostly they fight for something superheroes rarely fight for, equality and fairness. I even consider Magneto to be one of them, although most people know him as a villain, he spent many years being a part of them, and he's the first guy they turn to when things get tough. The X-Men fight prejudice. That's heroic.
Villain: Loki. No, not because of the movie, but because the more I read of him, the more I see... everything he ever did was seemingly bad- but ultimately resulted in good. He lied to Thor and got him banished to Earth? if he hadn't done that, Thor would've never become the hero he is today. He ruined Asgard on Earth? Asgard on Earth was disrupting the balance of the world tree. He joined the villain's side in Dark Reign? He screwed with Osborn's mind and ultimately caused his disgraced downfall and failure. Loki can't help but doing mischief and lie, but he uses his talent for useful things.

Batman and Joker are my number 1 characters from DC. They complement each other being the exact opposite of their foes. And DC made excellent/historic stories between their crossings...
Iron Man is my favorite marvel character. He is IMO the most human of all these heroes. Being able to delicately balancing his life as Tony Stark who enjoys life and Iron Man who protects is interests...
