What should a tentative thesis include for a research paper?
I'm doing a research paper on Three Mile Island, and i am having trouble coming up with a tentative thesis, or my "statment of controlling purpose".

Formulate a tentative thesis based on the ideas covered in the tentative outline. This thesis, like the tentative outline, may need to change as the research proceeds; however, you need a controlling idea in order to research profitably. The thesis must be written in a complete sentence and may not be a compound sentence. The thesis statement should include the title and author of the works being discussed, the three main points of the paper, and a position or stance.
For instance, if your objective is to demonstrate that damage was not nearly as bad as most projections or that it has longer lasting side effects then just say that. Make sure it matches your outline. Things can change as you progress.

I fairly advise against it. If the two statements are very heavily appropriate you will possibly be able to desire to flee with it, yet you will possibly prefer to make that sparkling on the outset of your essay. the main suitable answer may be to locate a thesis which could incorporate the those 2 statements as helping paragraphs/sections of the paper.
