how long to learn to sing?

I have a vocal coach i go to once a week. Who says i have a good voice, but it hasnt quite developed yet. I practice singing an hour a day, and by singing things from a book my vocal coach gave me. And doing the scale on a piano. Roughly, how long would you reckon it'd take for my voice to 'develop'?

A few weeks? Months? or even a year?

well it depends on the person, if you've been singing for a long time and find it easy to mimic other songs and artists then not to long, if you're a beginner then a it could take a while, practice makes perfect you can always keep getting better, learn new things, how to hit high notes higher, how to raise power, do riffs and runs, belt really well etc.

Just never give up and keep trying to learn and don't be afraid to exit your comfort zone, unless it strains

This is a subjective question. It's all relative. Some of your friends probably consider you very good at singing.

The most important thing is to keep practicing. It looks like you already have a good routine, which is great! Practice makes perfect and there are no shortcuts.

You get more and more comfortable and your voice as you practice and the fastest and biggest improvements will no doubt be during the first months as you get to know your voice, but I guess still a few years is good for most people to consider your voice 'developed'.

It depends on your age as to how your voice will advance. If you are under 18 you are still going through puberty and your larynx is immature. Listen to your coach
