my 1yr olds not a great eater, how do i change that?

the only thing my 1yr old will eat without a bother is fruit, (hes only this week turned one) most other things are a screaming match. he doesnt take much milk either, mabey 4-5 oz per 24hrs at the most. of course hel eat the bad stuff not a bother - chips sweets crisps etc but i dont want him eatin that all the time. ive seen me make him 3 dinners a night just to get him to eat and even then he wont. when he sees me with a spoon he crys or keeps turnin his head away. i give him his own spoon an hel poke about so its not that he wants to feed himself cos he doesnt know how to yet. i dont like mess but if he was to try and lift the food i wouldnt mind. tonight we had spag bol, i made him some set it down to him but any thing messy he wont lift, he isnt a baby thatl get stuck it. hed lift chips or sausage but nothin messy tho i dont think thats behind the not eating. any one any ideas how to get him to eat and not go thru the stress of this every day?

thats simple make the food fun.... you said he eats fruit no problem make thing in that shape. it might be a lil more time consuming but in the end he will slowly take to other foods. and for the milk part its ok if he doesnt like milk i was allergic as ababy so i had to do soy milk. but my oldest son was the same way and the shaped food really worked mine prefered eating dinosaurs tho =).... and i had to put a drop of strwberry or choclate syrup to all the milk. if that still doesnt work try baby snacks. hes a baby so as long as he starts drinking fine and snacking thru out the day he is fine. babies start exploring and dont have time to sit down 3 times a day and eat for 30 minutes because they night miss something. so having 6-8 lil meals is actually better for then especially since they burn it of so fast.

Your child will eat what he needs as long as you provide good nutritional food. Try him with cheese sticks, pieces of diced chicken, hard boiled egg cut into chunks, in other words good protein, you can probably find more ideas on the i/n. Don't encourage him to eat junk food - perhaps that is where the problem began? Also why give him spag. bol if he doesn't like anything messy?

he doesn't go down the shops and buy all the crap - your fault for giving it to him. To get out of this mess you might need some help. You give him small portions of a few good foods, if he refuses to eat it, just take it away without comment and go do something else. He only gets water on demand, plus some milk at the normal times. stop filling him up with milk, as well.

he's found a great way to get your attention so you need to stop making such a fuss, and do more interesting things with him.
