why cant christians answer for themselves?

it seems that in every discussion ive had with them, they're only real answers are from scriptures or whatever their pastor told them, which means absolutely nothing to me and doesn't offer any progressive spiritual way of life. besides their fear of going to hell. (seems to be the convincer for some) Why don't they speak out of their own experience to defend their religion? its like they're monographs or something, only repeating what they think makes sense to them never questioning and never trying any other spiritual things out. another thing i've noticed is that they only like to preach and don't like to listen to other ideas as far as philosophy or other religions. which to me indicates a narrow mind of this reality. I understand most of them love to defend it to the point of anger, which solves nada... I mean what would they really think would happen if they stopped being a christian for one day? what could possibly change? religions to me all indicate the fact that there is a supernatural force out there that makes up the unknown side of reality in our lives, i just see the difference between them as the time and place in history and the culture playing in and giving them their "image" of "GOD", I mean even the hindus know that their gods and images of gods are there only to serve as a remembrance and a guide for understanding the functioning for life, they don't take it literally for their gods to physically exist somewhere.

The last thing I want to ask is why do they believe the ridiculous idea that God put this world here for us, when we are living within a ecosystem of another 1 billion plus species on this planet. this question can actually go for any person who believes in human superiority. evolution doesn't stop with man kind. it keeps going for as long as it can, we aren't the climax of the universe People,, why don't alot of people realize that life works off of a vast number of different life forms including "non" life forms: gravity, minerals, rock, gas, just all energy in basic.it took billions of years for it to be like this for us to exist on this planet, without the vast diversity on this planet we wouldn't be here today.it makes absolutely no sense do call this world ours and even more so to proclaim ownership over something, I am not speaking out of bias opinion this is just how i see it through personal experience, it doesn't come from ancient books and i don't believe in copying others ideas out of fear, only if it is useful to me in my life. All I ask is that you don't take these answers in hatred or in a complete literal sense, because you should be able to get the overall meaning of my questions, I just want people to be a little more open to other ideas and ways of life instead of their own, and i have nothing against christian's in general as people, i even believe people of major scientific and logical perspectives to be narrow minded in some ways, why cant people adopt other useful ideas instead of shunning it away just because its foreign and you don't understand it at first and just come together as one whole species that understands the ways of GOD to further the understanding overall. thank you if you took the time to read this and if you just read a little of it and decided to throw you two cents in without asking yourself these questions then you just proved my reason for posting this. Peace

Update:

sorry to those who thought this was long, more so that it came off in a negative fashion, still no one seems so far (it been 5 minutes) with 10 or so responses, to have a response since its a bunch of loose questions trying to cover a topic as great as spirituality, the question i would like to focus on though is why not pick up on other ideas and wake up to realize that we all understand a concept of a god's existence it seems the next step is to combine the best resources to achieve a better awareness of it.

i like your answers the best as in my experience they were the most enjoyable to read, alot of other responsive i can tell had no intuition or guidance in delivering on a topic you haven't really been living alot. i know my claims seem very judge mental especially at the beginning i would like to give a better indication on my 2nd paragraph more so, as that is when i've calmed down on my writing, sorry to those who i offend.

Update 2:

i know this as well is really unorganized in giving a series of questions. and also this barely scratches the surface of what i truly understand and am aware of. but no one as of yet has given me a reason why other religions (ways of life) are automatically cut off from your life just because you have grew up be taught one, in my thoughts (this is a paradox i know) experience itself is the essence to all understanding and well being for any form of life and the only real way to gain truth is through trying alot of different interesting things. how can you fully know something is wrong or bad for you if you dont try it. THIS ENTIRE POST ISN'T MEANT FOR ANOTHER POINTLESS ARGUMENT FOR DEBATE ON RELIGION. I JUST CHOSE RELIGION BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO BE THE MOST CLOSELY CONNECTED ON UNDERSTANDING SPIRITUALITY. THIS QUESTION IS MORE FOR THE WAY PEOPLE THINK AND ACT IN CHOOSING THE RIGHT ANSWER FOR TRUTH THATS ALL. i caps lock the former sentence for more exposure not to sound angry

Update 3:

@one nation under god- that is a completely bias brainwashed answer. this is exactly what im talking about. you obviously cant know anything about me, because i dont go to school and i have never read any book by that author. your just as confused but are unwilling to question it.

Update 4:

thinking over this i wish i could have put a better title on this topic because its not really what i want to know. and i can tell it gives a automatic negative statement on christianity. so i do regret that overall.

Update 5:

cmon i respect every ones right to believe whatever they want, but why ever stop searching. certainly one religion cant provide full understanding of god, religions are like any other things they live and they die only to produce a closer connection with god.

It is unfortunate that your experience with Christians in the past has been so negative. By the way, I read the entire question and details. You are an intelligent person. You seem to be somewhat open minded about certain things, but you seem to have a somewhat insular outlook on others. That's typical for any human being. You are slightly unique in that you seem to be a little bit more broad minded than most people.

I very seldom (if ever) use Biblical quotes to answer questions. Yes, some Christians use scripture. I see nothing wrong with it if the scripture is relevant. I personally prefer to have a philosophical approach to things, and I like to think on my feet. We are all made of star stuff. Who can really say that an animal is less important than a person? I believe that technically speaking, we are animals, yes- however, we have this strange duality that Descartes once talked about. There is a connection between the body and the soul.

If we are alone in the cosmos, then most of it is a prodigious desert. But we have no evidence for extraterrestrial life. It may seem like a horrible waste of space, but maybe the Earth is an oasis that has no competition.

I do not believe that evolution is incompatible with God. I support Intelligent Design. There are many open minded Christians out there- you just haven't met the right ones yet.

Well, I read it all and basically, everyone has their own way of answering these questions. It depends on what you go by because if you talk to a scientist they will talk and monograph everything about the laws of science and all that. For Muslims, it would be the Kuran. For Christians, it would be the Bible. Etc. Basically, every human being learns and imitates a form of knowledge and set code of rules of beliefs even if they are athiest or religous. That's why you would get all this rephrasing from. Anyways, you should try opening your mind a bit more and doing more research when doing this (although, seriously don't piss off people for their beliefs or you're just being immature) because for me, I can usually find it easily when they ask. Next time, they cite a quote from a book or scripture, ask them to explain it (do it politely). If you believe in the book or not is irrevelant because if you don't then why would you be asking in the first place other than to bash a person (or if you are curious without being a jackass).

Ironically, as an atheist, I too can't answer this question for myself, because the late, great physicist Richard Feyman said it better than I ever could:

“It doesn't seem to me that this fantastically marvelous universe, this tremendous range of time and space and different kinds of animals, and all the different planets, and all these atoms with all their motions, and so on, all this complicated thing can merely be a stage so that God can watch human beings struggle for good and evil - which is the view that religion has. The stage is too big for the drama.”

Your question is long and it is hard to determine the actual question. Also I do not speak for anyone but myself and don't believe one can say Christians do this or say that with the implied "all" Christians.

However, while I am aware of the thousands of species on this planet, I understand that even non-theists accept that the human species is different in our abilities and cognitive thought. Also the concept of calling the planet "ours" is not limited to theists.

I do not believe that God created the world for us. I believe He created the world and us. if anything, he created us for the world, to protect and care for the world and all that is in it.

And not once did I reference Scripture or something my pastor told me and yes, I read the WHOLE thing.

If you ask where Izanagi left Izanami The right answer will always be Yomi.

If you ask who rescued Zeus when Hera chained him to his bed the answer will always be the Hundred Handers.

Different religions have different explantions for the same events and scenarios. Christianity is no different. Seriously. What do you expect a Christian answer to be based on? Something written in the Quar'an?

Hi, we quote scriptures just like novelists quote Austen or Shakspeare. It's to make a point not because we don't have an opinion. I personally don't understand why ppl. become so angry over this topic when you don't agree with what they want you to. I believe what I want You believe what you want. WHO CARES! We all believe something different and when it all comes down to it, no two people's thoughts on religion are the same. It doesn't mean we can't all coexist peacefully, or be friends, or get married, or go into business together. Really why do ppl. get so angry over MY beliefs you obviously don't share them, so why do you care?

(questioner)--(quote)"I mean even the hindus know that their gods and images of gods are there only .

to serve as a remembrance and a guide for understanding the functioning for life, they don't take it literally for their gods to physically exist somewhere." (en-quote)

Hindus beleive that their GOD resides deep within themselves--why they need to believe that their GOD physically exists some where else ?.A mirror helps me to see my "image"--but the "Image" per se is NOT "me".

It seems you are saying that christianity and science contradict one another and you are for science. Why don't you take some tips from one of the greatest scientist in the history of the world.

Science without religion is blind, Religion without science is ignorance.

Holy crap; what a wall of text. A god construct isn't necessary to understand the world around us, and historically has been detrimental to society.
