Obama said in an interview today that gays should go ahead and get married. Does this not go against God?

And what will happen to the United States, which was built on Christianity, and how will Obama's support for same sex marriage affect the blessing of the country, and for him to be re-elected as President in the near future? Should Christians be worried about Obama's recent view on same sex marriage?

Dad as you have seen by these answers, Just How Volatile R&S is, Obama now shows his true colors despite his Muslim & Black Liberation Theology teachings, Yes The United States was founded upon Christianity despite the so-called Pseudo evidences Liberal Posters have said, So, is the United States a Christian nation? No. Not in its philosophy, or in what it loves, or in what it does. Despite its Judeo-Christian roots and heritage, and the beliefs of some of its founders, the United States today is a nation that follows other gods, and lives a lifestyle that is not compatible with Christianity.

Concerning Obama's Views on Homosexuality? well In this politically correct climate that relinquishes morality to the relativistic whims of society, stating that homosexuals should not marry is becoming unpopular. Should a woman be allowed to marry another woman? Should a man be allowed to marry another man? Should they be given legal protection and special rights to practice their homosexuality? No, they should not.

The Bible, of course, condemns homosexuality. It takes no leap of logic to discern that homosexual marriage is also condemned. But our society does not rely on the Bible for its moral truth. Instead, it relies on humanistic and relativistic morals upon which it builds its ethical structure.

Homosexuality is not natural. Just look at the male and female bodies. They are obviously designed to couple. The natural design is apparent. It is not natural to couple male with male and female with female. It would be like trying to fit two screws together or two nuts together and then say, "See, its natural for them to go together."

Homosexuals argue that homosexuality is natural since it occurs in the animal world. But this is problematic. It is true that this behavior occurs in the animal kingdom, but it is also true that we see animals eating their prey alive and even their own young. We see savagery, cruelty, and extreme brutality. Yet, we do not condone such behavior in our own society. Proponents of the natural order argument should not pick-and-choose the situations that best fit their agendas. They should be consistent and not compare us to animals. We are not animals. We are made in God's image.

    Where will it end?

Political protection of a sexual practice is ridiculous. I do not believe it is proper to pass laws stating that homosexuals have 'rights' to have sex with one another and then redefine marriage to include their views. If they can do that, then where will it end? What about pedophilia or bestiality? These are also sexual practices. Should they, too, be protected by law? If homosexuality is protected legally, why not those as well?

I think those belonging to an Abrahamic religion would be well served to understand the historical context of the Bible, particularly as it relates to sexuality.

Here's the proper historical context: After the Agricultural Revolution (ie, the Fall of Adam and Eve is about this time, see: http://www.noonespecial.ca/adam-and-eve/ ) there was a population explosion due to the food surplus enabled by agriculture. The early Hebrews were one tribe out of many who were trying to figure out how to make it work for them. It was a highly competitive time and the tribe who thrived and survived did so by having strict rules about hygiene, sexuality, food, etc. The tribe who survived would also see their culture spread throughout the world powered by agriculture and the mythologies that supported it. (See Jared Diamond's "Guns, Germs and Steel" for how culture spread out of the Middle East.) It should be rather obvious who this culture was.. the early Hebrews as described in the Bible. The Bible is what remains of their stories, their laws and practices. In effect, it was a cultural diary of these early civilization builders.

All of their opinions on the morality of sexuality related to what would expedite population growth. Pre- and extra-marital sex were considered forbidden because household stability increased the likelihood of raising healthy children and to avoid the risks of cuckolding. Morality didn't have anything to do with it. Before you dismiss my analysis by suggesting that these things were moral and their influence on population growth was secondary, consider Deuteronomy 22:28-29 which explicitly states that the punishment for a man who rapes a woman is that he must marry her (!!!) and pay her father some silver. Morally reprehensible to be sure but certainly expedites population growth.

It's hard to fault the early Hebrews for their draconian political programs since they did survive in such a competitive time. It is, however, really easy to see that these times are not those times and that we're overpopulated by about 5 billion people. Our needs and dangers are very different than they were for the early Hebrews 10,000 some odd years ago. The policies that allowed them to survive are no longer necessary and are in fact only hurting us.

There is absolutely nothing wrong at all with being homosexual or bisexual and there is absolutely nothing wrong with acting on those desires as long as it is between consenting adults.

    To specifically answer your questions:

    There are no gods.

Nothing, not at all and the US was not "built on Christianity" whatever that means.

    No.

The United States of America is in no way "built on Christianity". The Founding Fathers were QUITE BLOODY CLEAR on this.

    • History, I believe, furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance of which their civil as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purposes. -Thomas Jefferson to Alexander von Humboldt, Dec. 6, 1813.

    • Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between church and State. -Thomas Jefferson, Jan. 1, 1802

    • I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent. -Thomas Jefferson, March 13, 1789

    • Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear. -Thomas Jefferson, August 10, 1787

    • Thirteen governments thus founded on the natural authority of the people alone, without a pretence of miracle or mystery, and which are destined to spread over the northern part of that whole quarter of the globe, are a great point gained in favor of the rights of mankind. -- John Adams, "A Defence of the Constitutions of Government of the United States of America" (1787-88),

    • We should begin by setting conscience free. When all men of all religions ... shall enjoy equal liberty, property, and an equal chance for honors and power ... we may expect that improvements will be made in the human character and the state of society. - John Adams, letter to Dr. Price, April 8, 1785.

    • "Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon, than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness, that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind." - Thomas Paine (The Age of Reason, 1794-1795.)

    • Every man "ought to be protected in worshipping the Deity according to the dictates of his own conscience." - George Washington (Letter to the United Baptist Churches in Virginia in May, 1789)"When a Religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that its Professors are obliged to call for help of the Civil Power, it is a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one." - Benjamin Franklin (from a letter to Richard Price, October 9, 1780;)

    • I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of... Each of those churches accuse the other of unbelief; and for my own part, I disbelieve them all."- Thomas Paine (The Age of Reason, 1794-1795.)

    • "The civil rights of none shall be abridged on account of religious belief or worship, nor shall any national religion be established, nor shall the full and equal rights of conscience be in any manner, or on any pretence, infringed.'' - James Madison (Original wording of the First Amendment; Annals of Congress 434 (June 8, 1789).)

I am very very sory that your family, community, and culture has mind-raped you so. I hope that some day, you can join the rest of us in reality.

BTW... This was the first thing that Obama has said that I agree with... And if we're to go on about the difference between the Left and the Right, let's not forget that it was Bill Clintion that enacted the following:

    A) The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) (Pub.L. 104-199, 110 Stat. 2419, enacted September 21, 1996, 1 U.S.C. § 7 and 28 U.S.C. § 1738C)

    B) "Don't ask, don't tell" (DADT) (Pub.L. 103-160 (10 U.S.C. § 654)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don't_ask,_don't_tell

So much for the idea that "The Left" is the party of equlaity.

The Christian community should just shut up and deal with it. It's not the 18th century anymore, when America was "built." Lots for things have changed! Women got rights. Ethnicities (especially blacks) got rights. Slaves are outlawed. Isn't it time for gays to get the rights they deserve? Everyone is equal, okay. They don't choose to be homosexual. Why would they? Why would they choose to be made fun of constantly? Shunned from society? Treated as lesser in the eyes of their community? They wouldn't. We should just be compassionate and tolerant and respect that they have their ways and we have ours. Don't worry about it, you'll only complicate the situation.

    1. The United States was not founded on Christianity, anyone who says otherwise is lying.

    2. Your religion has no right to claim marriage; marriage was around long before Canaanite mythology.

    (1) The USA was built on freedom of and from religion, NOT on Christianity

    (2) If gay Christians don't want to get married that's fine, but they do not have any right to impose their bigoted beliefs on anyone else.
