Nose piercing problem ? Help plz?
Hello everyone,
So i got my nose pierced at a parlor on friday and i know this question has been answered many times but i seen none of my symptons. The piercer did everything right, used new, clean, and sterile needles. Now i clean it twice a day (once with the saline solution they gave me, and once with salt water (i used regular salt, is that wrong ?) but it was the first week i got it, but yesterday it started pussing and crusting. Its now swollen and the swollenist is covering almost the whole piercing. It looks like the ring is getting sucked in and it itches. Is this normal ? or should i be worried ? Has this happen to someone else before and how do i get it regular loooking again ?
Thank you

You need to be doing sea salt soaks twice a day for 5-10 minutes each soak with 1/4th of a teaspoon of non-iodized sea salt (no, regular salt is not okay) to 8oz of hot water. Saline usually has some chemical additives in it, just make your own soaks.
What color is the pus? If it is light in color, white, or clear that is lymph and a completely normal part of the healing process. If it is darker yellow/green/brown then that is pus and it's infected. Either way, you just need to be doing the sea salt soaks. If it's lymph, the soaks will help it heal. If it's pus, the soaks will clear the infection.
The swelling, itchiness, and crust is normal but it sounds like the jewelry your piercer put in isn't long enough. Go back to them or another piercer and have it looked at asap so the jewelry doesn't become embedded in the piercing. Take some ibuprofen until you can get to a piercer.

it sounds infected. I would go back to where you had it done and ask them to take a look at it. You may end up having to get it taken out and re-done at a later date. Hope its nothing serious. God Bless you! -Kiani
