I am an atheist turned Christian and I would like to ask other religious believers a question.?

Before I ask the question I want to do a quick rant:

So I have been experiencing life and finding new things about myself and I ended up going back to my Christian faith. I went away from the religious path because of so much evil in the world and I would blame it on the deity, "God". But then I thought about it, if you believe in God you have to believe in the Devil as well. When you say "Oh my God" when something evil and bad happens, who's to say that it isn't the work of Satan?

This may seem weird, but I do not go to church. The bible is a book and I strongly believe that it was edited throughout time by several governments to secure power and influence the minds of people. It's similar to the media, who knows if the media aren't spreading lies? What we think is only what the government and media wants us to think. In a church, people could be spreading lies without even knowing.

In the bible it says that marriage is to between a man and a woman. This statement makes people believe that being homosexual in anyway is wrong. But it isn't. Wouldn't God want all of his children to live in paradise with him no matter what the flaws are?

To wrap all of this up don't you think that all of these things have happened over time to influence people that religion is bad? People turn away from religion, God get's less followers and his forces get weaker, simple as that. Sure this may all be fake, but who knows, it makes sense if you think about it. After all, there are a lot of other religions that are similar to that of Christianity.

Update:

When I said I went away from the path, I meant I didn't believe in religion at all. It just didn't make any sense for all of this bad stuff to happen in the world until I reached another possibility.

Update 2:

Wanna know what's funny, most of you want to comment about irrelevant things that don't really answer my question. Have you all taken what I said into consideration? Atheists included.

Update 3:

Furthermore I wasn't angry with "God" it just didn't seem to make any sense that all of these bad things happened. So I just thought that's how a lot of humans are, which is still the case.

Update 4:

Not really Richard, I follow my interpretation of the faith. Going to church doesn't really mean that you believe in God at all. Think about the countless children that are forced to go to church just because their parents say so.

You were no atheist, you were just not practicing religion. And honestly? You sound agnostic not even Christian (you're basically *staying* for the "what if" like many do).

looks some misunderstandings going right here ? i'm atheist, have been for years, meaning basically that i do no longer think there's a God! i'm no longer religious because of the fact faith potential the worship of this none existent God. That cant be complicated to appreciate certainly??? the way you ought to reach on the top that I or those like me, have no ethical code, is plenty previous me? All you could say approximately atheists is that we dont belive in God, different than for that we selection, some human beings ought to think of that we've been 'planted' right here via little green adult men from mars, that concept is greater ideal than a God making the earth in 6 days then taking a ruin on day 7, so ultimate to no longer cling your sparkling washing out to dry on day 7!! None of that has something to do with morals.

God may WANT all of His children to live together in paradise, but he condemned that lifestyle, according to the Bible, it is wrong. I know you believe that the Bible has been edited, but either way, I believe that homosexuality is wrong any way you slice it. Sorry that this is the only part of the question that I attempted to answer, but this part stood out to me the most.

  • "Going away" from the religious path does not make you atheist, especially if you blame a god for the evils in the world. Look up the definition for atheist.

    We don't want fakes, anyway.

Calling your self a Christian and saying you don't go to church sounds like you don't know what you really want....

You can believe in "God" and not be a christian but don't say you are if you don't practice one of their teachings

People do not always know God in any depth. Religion is difficult to address. God is good and loves us.
