In Korean, is rice "bal" or "ssap"?

If it is both, what is the difference and when do you use them?

    You mixed the ending letters up.

    밥[Bap] - boiled rice/cooked rice/meal/food

    쌀 [ssal] - raw rice/newly harvested rice

    before it cook.. just call 'ssal'

    after cooked from rice cooker or pot.. we call "bab"
