How do you find open casting calls for extras in movies?

Hi, I'm a teenager and I would really like to be in a movie, as an extra. So I live close to a city where lots of movies are filmed, but how do I find and open casting call for extras? I want to go to one, but I don't know where to look. Is there a good website or something for this? (free websites please) Or a certain place to look in the newspaper? Well I would really appreciate it if someone can help me out here and answer some of my questions, and thanks in advance :)

In Los Angeles go to Central Casting

If you are not in LA go to http://www.auditionsfree.com/category/auditions-by... and see the list of open calls for extras for large films

or here http://www.auditionsfree.com/category/auditions-by... for general extras

Extra's for movies are usually cast through an extra's casting agency. SOMETIMES, not often, depending on the city you live in and the type of movie being filmed you can just be around the set and be randomly asked would you like to be an extra? In this case you will most likely NEVER get paid. I've seen it happen, but that was years ago when I was like 10 years old and sometime recently for some other movie that was being shot in NYC a few years ago. So don't hold me to it or try it. Just go online and look up extra's casting agencies and see if you can register with them. Sometimes you get called, sometimes you don't. Just be prepared that they can call you at ANY time of the day and say look "We need 20 extra's at X location by 7am". If you don't show they won't sweat it, and you don't get paid. They'll just ask another one or just work with whoever showed up. Try looking into your local newspaper and look for agencies that production companies tend to go to for extra's. Another way to make sure these agencies are legit is by watching the movies that were filmed in your location at the end of the credits it should say the name of the extra's casting agencies they used and thanking them etc.

*NOTE: Do not get caught up in the life of being a movie extra if you're a serious aspiring actress. Extra's do not get respect and are known to be "living props" and have other sad names to refer to them. Do NOT put work as an extra on a professional acting resume thats just dooming your career.
