teleportation technology does exist, we just cant tdo people yet

cure for aids and cancer requires a "breakthrough" which may or may not happen.

manned trip to mars is currently "possible" but there no real good REASON to spend the money

contact with aliens? absolutely NOTHING to base a guess on, could happen to morrow or never... the aids/cancer thing is FAR more likely.

IMHO the next big breakthrough will be virtual reality, a logical extension of the entertainment and communications industry

To “teleport” a person you need to convert the person into energy…

If you use the formula E = M c² you can calculate the amount of energy such a conversion would release…

For a 170 pound man the energy released would be (using the MKS system):

    1 pound = 0.45359237 kilograms…

    170 lb x (0.45359237 kilograms / lb) = 77.11 kg…

The speed of light (c) = 299,792,458 meter per second…

    And, c² = 89,875,517,800,000,000 m²/sec² = 8.99 x 10^16 m²/sec²…

    So, E = 77.11 kg x 8.99 x 10^16 m²/sec² = 6,932,189,000,000,000,000 = 6.93 x 10^18 Joules...

The megaton (MT) of TNT (as a unit of energy) is equal to 4.184 petaJoules = 4.184 x 10^15 J…

    So, dividing we get:

    6.93 x 10^18 Joules / 4.184 x 10^15 J / MT = 1,656 megaton equivalent OR…

33 Tsar bombs going off --- all at once!!!

If you decide to teleport yourself let me know - I don't want to be on the same continent...…
