How much green tea is too much?
I drink about a gallon of usweetened, decaf green iced tea every day. I brew it myself. Could there be any adverse health effects from this, or am I okay with this amount? Thanks in advance.

Green tea has an abundance of health-reaping benefits primarily because of its high content of antioxidants, but it can moderately risky to consume it in excessive quantities. Antioxidants are awesome, but it is possible to have too much of a good thing. Drinking copious amounts of green tea may cause nutritional problems because of the strong binding activities of the polyphenols, which can make it harder for the body to absorb crucial minerals such as iron. Your absorption of any medications you may be taking can be inhibited if you habitually have too much green tea. Polyphenols can also over-stimulate the production of gastric acids and cause stomach upset. Though it's rare to overdose on EGCG from green tea, it is possible. Most people who have experienced this problem took green tea extract which is much more potent than the drink itself.
When I was volunteering in rural China and became really ill I was given a cup of green day every hour I was awake because it is considered to be a medicinal tonic. They don't consume that much ordinarily. On an everyday basis most people I encountered throughout Asia drank three fresh cups of green tea spaced hours apart, and three to six seems to be the ideal. A gallon is the equivalent to roughly sixteen cups of tea, so I do think you're having a bit too much. It's still unlikely to really cause you harm if you're healthy, though. Green tea compounds lose their oxidation over time, sort of like how an apple becomes brown after it's been sliced, so you're not getting all the benefits or the risks if you're brewing a gallon of tea and drinking cups of it throughout the day. If you were drinking sixteen freshly-brewed cups of caffeinated green tea every day it would be more likely to cause issues. You might want to try cutting back a little and drinking more water just to err on the side of caution.
Take care!

Edit - If you really love tea, you could try having different types instead of exclusively drinking green tea. If there's a Trader Joe's near you I recommend trying their pomegranate white tea. It's a very pretty brew, and it tastes lovely too! (haha, rhyming is unintentional)

Health issues with tea consumption:
Tea can dehydrate you; and the way u can tell if u are dehydrated, Is by looking at the color of ur urine: (urine is clear when u are properly hydrated) the more yellow your urine is, the more dehydrated u are.
Tea is also hard on ur kidneys, so it may be a better idea to drink tea in moderation.

The un-roasted non fermented yet uncooked green dried tea leaves yield this colour. green tea is attributed by using its uncooked prestige of leaves. The black bleeds purely in pink no black all in all.
