Re-install a HDD from a recovery partition that?
Need this answered.
I have a 160gb hdd that i removed from an E Machine computer.
I formatted it, but the formatting did not remove therecovery partition.
My question is this...Can i re-install the drive and recover the original settings/programs ?

It sounds like you installed this HDD in another, different PC. If the recovery partition is still intact, you may be able to re-install Windows & the drivers for the original eMachine PC, however I wouldn't expect things to go very well. Your new machine likely requires different drivers, you're violating the Windows license, & you're going to find that Windows will not activate on the new machine.
If you're re-installing it on the original eMachine PC & you have the recovery disks available, it should work out fine.

If the recovery partition is intact, yes.
If you formatted the non-recovery partition, then the recovery partition will still be there
However if you deleted the recovery partition, you can't use it
