All Pawn Shop models are MIJ Fenders.
Edit: according to Fender, they are made in Japan-

Confirmed on the Fender board-

And numerous other sites-

They are not MIM.

I would agree with some of the comment. It would be nice to field test the guitars and spot on to the one you're happy with. Sometimes it's the price factor, although the expensive ones are the most adorable.
Most if not everyone does that, ie goes into a guitar store and check out the gears. Some may not be able to do so, perhaps the store would not allow too many dirty hands on their expensive stuff.
Some may not have the time to do so. All in all, the next best thing is to go online. Of course a guitar is not exactly a pair of shoes that has to fit exactly. But a guitar action is just as close to a tight fit.
A newbie to guitar collection IMO is to kick start with a mid low to mid high guitar and work your way up.
An expensive guitar will have its weight in material and craftsmanship. You pay for what you get. You cannot squeeze gold out of stone. You may have a lucky break stumbling on a vintage or a well made low end but depending on luck alone just doesn't cut it.
Next best bet would be to spend an amount midway between the high and the mid price. If that doesn't work then get a technical guy to fix one up for you in terms of parts etc to the requirements you want. Always the budget is the key. And if you do that online it is the trust and liaison with your luthier that gives you the best advice and service rather than buying a one off which you will may not know how good that guitar is until the goods arrived. At least your luthier can advise whilst work in progress and will inform you and has done the field test before sending.

Hello there,
I understood all the Pawn Shop series are made in Mexico. Fender has a description of the pawn shop series on their website. Fender does not include Fender Japan models on their website (only US made and MIM).

Not everyone who sells guitars on ebay are knowledgable about guitars. Ask some about frotboard radius and many do not have a clue. If you buy on-line from a not well known dealer, you need to be knowledgable enough about the guitar you are considering that you do not have to rely on the seller. Too many sellers give you incorrect information and I think it is due to the fact they really don't know what they are talking about.

fender sguires are made in japan, korea.mexico. buying guitars on line is extremly stupid. You only way to tell if you will like the guitar is to play in before you buy it. THis is from thirty years experiance. You can play five identical looking guitars. They will all have a different feel in you hands. I have done this many time one will appeal to you.all are slightly different. So if you buy on line. And I have friends that have done this and then were stuck with a piece of junk.Go to a music store. buy your guitar.this wll insure that it will be the one that will suit your playing.
