Can a teacher go through a students facebook?

During a soccer game at my school there was a rough soccer game.

I was on a group talking about the other team and I said roughly that I was "amped to injure their entire team" and said that I would "tackle him as hard as I could". Needless to say, a player told their coach, who told their vp, called mine and I got sent in.

During the talk about what should happen, (no police involved at all). For a one game suspension that he already had told me was the punnishment, he told me he wanted to make sure I deleted the posts. (I did this a couple of days before). Me thinking he would just see the post I SHOWED him, I accepted. He then went through the entire groups messages on MY account and essentially looked through it all. Is there anything legally wrong from this? I live in Ontario Canada if this makes a difference. I just don't know if they are aloud to do this and I would really like to get a straight answer as all of the teachers that I asked didn't give me a straight answer.

Long story short: Can a teacher go through your facebook under those circumstances? I consented to him looking at the post, not through the entire group.

Update:

It wasn't open on a computer, he forced me to log on. He didn't go through my profile, he was in my account. Was wondering if that in particular made a difference.

Update 2:

Also, ignorance is double sided, not just for your argument. Ignorance to me would be letting this go without further checking into the situation. I wanted to know if it was legal or not for future possible situations for prevention, not to try and get the school in trouble.

You gave him permission to access your Facebook. I can think of several reasons why you don't have a legal leg to stand on. Drop it.

the whole profile is obviously no longer set to non-public in the journey that your headteacher could desire to work out it. the only way that could desire to take place is that in case you have the headteacher extra as a buddy. wherein case you may desire to be responsive to extra advantageous to no longer communicate approximately people on line. And that's completely criminal. i be responsive to a guy who became in my degree course. at first of our 0.33 3 hundred and sixty 5 days he wrote approximately certainly one of our academics on facebook and have been given thrown out of the course. Waste of three years and just about £12,000 facebook, and everywhere on the internet for that remember is a public communicate board for all to work out. If it became any incorrect way around and you chanced on that instructor asserting undesirable issues approximately you, you would be the 1st to whinge to the headteacher. They probable might of gotten fired, it quite is a similar element different than roles reversed. you will learn a annoying lesson approximately being nicer to people to any extent further.

Facebook is a PUBLIC website, moron. Don't post stuff on there if you don't want the authorities to see it. You gave him permission to access your account anyway. Just drop it and quit being so ignorant.

You gave him permission so yep it's legal. My guess is that you never specified he could look at JUST that post, but you said he could look at the profile. Next time realize he can't FORCE you to log on. Even if they suspend you for not logging in, they can't force you to log in.

Your facebook is open to anyone in the world, its a public forum. Yes, anyone can go through it if they want to.

Off course they can , it is a public social networking site

If you don't want anyone to see it, then adjust your privacy setting to 'friends only'
