I've had a rescued cat for about six years now, and he is as antisocial as ever. You can't hold him, and he runs at the sound of a bag, vacuum, and various other loud noises and big objects. One thing we did was adopted another cat. The reason this works is that often, rescue cats have been through some sort of trauma as a kitten and have had little to no social interaction. There was no playing with other cats, so, having this new cat in the house, he is put in situations daily where he has to be social. Eventually, he branched out to humans. Giving your cat treats also helps, I sometimes hold them where they have to climb on me to get the treat, causing it to feel more comfortable in your presence. This also connects the good taste with the person, in the cat's mind.

I'm so glad you care!! Just give her time and space!! We got our cat when some idiot threw her out of a moving car window. That was a year and a half ago. She is still jumpy and always on edge. We love her more than anyone could. If she doesn't start trusting u, and u treat her good, just trust she knows u love her

Don't push her to be social. She will eventually become more bold and not so scared. But, she will be happy if she knows she can trust you! That is the most important thing right now. just let her come around, and don't try to make her be anything. Just love her, that works best!
