Why am I always thirsty?

I drink 60-80 ounces of water per day and I have been for about a year now. The past few months I can never seem to get enough to drink. Is it possible to drink too much water? I know I have consumed a massive amount of water the past year but I thought this was "healthy"? I know I'm not dehydrated so what else could it be?

you are quite similar to the stage i stood to in previous some years.i used to drink 2 glasses of water or so a day but after consulting a doctor for some skin problem,he advised me to drink nearly the amounts you mentioned and now its like a habit and i drink water even i dont feel like drinking.our body follows the proportion of inputs as we organize it to be.

    so ,nothing to worry!

Your body could be signalling your thirst centers to intake a lot of fluids for various reasons:

one: u could obviously be dehydrated which triggers the renin-angiotensin systems to illicit thirst

two: the third P of the 3P's of diabetes which is polydipsia, polyuria, and polyphagia (excessive thirst, excessive urination, and excessive eating)

three: need for salt (electrolyte imbalances)

I have heard that it can be linked to diabetes. Talk to a doctor about it!

my dad was the same way and it can come from taking medicated pills and diabetes.
