Why does my cat purr so much?
He purrs constantly, even when he's just walking around exploring, sleeping, or eating. It's like his purr box is broken ha ha I've been around a few cats before and have never heard a cat purr this much. He's the first cat I've owned and had in my house though. I rescued him as a kitten from the woods where he was getting beaten up by another animal. I had NO intentions of keeping him AT ALL but I grew attached so I haven't done much research on cats and purring etc. so is this common?
1 AnswerCats9 years agoBest tick medicine for dogs?
I need a good quality, relatively inexpensive recommendation. Ticks are horrible this season already. I took my dog on a trail walk yesterday and they were all over her and me. They were even in my shoes and a few were in her ears. I pulled them all off (hopefully) and now I need to buy her some meds ASAP, but I'm not rich over here. Advice is appreciated! Thanks.
3 AnswersDogs9 years agoWhy am I always thirsty?
I drink 60-80 ounces of water per day and I have been for about a year now. The past few months I can never seem to get enough to drink. Is it possible to drink too much water? I know I have consumed a massive amount of water the past year but I thought this was "healthy"? I know I'm not dehydrated so what else could it be?
5 AnswersDiet & Fitness9 years agoDo you ever question your relationship because it's going so well?
Is this common? Do you ever think "it's too good to be true" and start to look for reasons that it would mess up?
4 AnswersSingles & Dating9 years agoAnimals are not "made" to be eaten?
Does this apply to lions also? Were zebras and antelope not "made" for them to eat? Why does this ONLY apply to humans?
9 AnswersOther - Food & Drink9 years agoWhat to do for a depressed dog?
I was living alone for over a year and it was just me, my cat, and my dog. Recently I moved in with my GF and her 3 kids (teenagers). I figured my dog would love this non stop attention as someone is pretty much always home now instead of me being gone for work leaving her and the cat alone for a few hours. My cat seems to be happier than ever but my dog is very distant and has been hiding and sleeping under the bed which is unusual. She doesn't chew on her bone or play like she normally does. I know it's not her health also. She is getting a lot of play time and attention now more than ever. Could this be what is causing her "depression"? Can a pet get too much attention? She's 4 year old lab so she's pretty young and she loves the kids but just always seems blah lately.
6 AnswersDogs9 years agoCat wouldn't eat chicken skin?
I had some baked chicken wings last night so I gave a little piece to my cat for a treat. He ate the meat but wouldn't eat the skin. My dog of course ate it, but I was a little surprised my cat didn't. I know cats hunt and eat mice and birds, etc. in the wild so I figured he would've gobbled it all up. He is my first cat though so I have little knowledge of felines.
8 AnswersCats9 years agoAre you vegan for religious, philosophical, or ethical reasons?
I'm curious as to what power compelled your decision to live outside of your natural instincts? Why is it that some of our species is the only species that seem to rebel against ourselves and nature? DO you think it has to do with an emotional response to our modern environments? I've talked to my grandparents about the idea of vegan-ism and it was unheard of to them when they were my age. What do you think has changed in the minds of some humans?
9 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan9 years agoWhy do obese people get more praise?
when they lose weight as opposed to just an average over weight person? I've noticed this at my gym and in my personal life. For example about a year ago I weighed 169 at 5`5 so I was about 30 pounds over weight. I got motivated and busted my a$$ and ate healthy and lost 30Lbs. in about 4 months. My parents and friends and my partner were proud of me but they said oh well you looked good before and now you just look lean and that was the end of it. Now I see this morbidly obese woman that loses 10 pounds or so and she gets her picture on a billboard and gets praise from everyone and their mother even though she is still obese. What's the difference? Maybe I'm just jealous ha ha but has anyone else noticed this?
5 AnswersDiet & Fitness9 years agoWhat illness do I have?
I can't concentrate very well, I lose interest in things extremely quickly, I push myself to the point of mental exhaustion just to prove a point to myself, I work extremely hard at anything I commit to even if I loathe it. I seem happy go lucky and have many friends and love being social, but I feel utterly alone. I never tell anyone how I really feel because I really trust no one. I don't even feel comfortable talking to my own mother. I over think every single thing and when something makes me happy I always think of something to ruin that feeling.
3 AnswersMental Health9 years agoIs chicken skin healthy to eat?
Obviously not if the chicken is fried but what about baked or grilled? I usually only eat grilled boneless chicken, but sometimes I'll have wings or legs and of course the skin is still on the meat and bone. Would you say skin is healthy to eat?

15 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan9 years agoAre all women closed off like this? Please explain.?
My GF refused to open up to me because she says words are empty and anybody could tell me how she feels. Does this make sense to anyone because it sure as hell confuses me. I get that words are over stated often, but dammit it would be nice to have my GF talk to me instead of just do "nice" things for me and then seem to be emotionally distant all the time. I have told her this also, and it's the same old "empty words" story with her. She does write me sweet letters sometimes (rarely) and does extremely kind and generous things for me, but she doesn't say anything, EVER. Advice?
2 AnswersGender Studies9 years agoWould you spend more time with your significant other?
or continue doing something you love even though it basically takes up your entire day and it really bothers them that you are away often? I'm torn. I can cut back on this activity but I need to train for a tournament and want to do my best. It is affecting the relationship though. How do I find a balance?
4 AnswersFamily9 years agoWhy is it "wrong" to eat what animals produce naturally?
Like eggs for example? My dad has several hens and they lay many eggs that he has stock piles of them he sells. He takes very good care of his hens. I know exactly where they come from and how they are treated, and I know that he is not trying to breed them so these eggs are not being fertilized. In this instance, why would eating/using an egg be morally wrong? I get why someone would be vegetarian, but I don't understand vegans. There are many local farmers that treat their livestock very well and milk their cows, collect their eggs etc. in nothing short of an ethical way. I don't see how this is "wrong". Thoughts?
13 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan9 years agoWhy won't she open up to me?
My GF and I have been together for a year and our relationship is very stable and loving. I've never been with someone that I feel so "in tune" with. We rarely argue and everything is great EXCEPT she will not open up to me. She is very strong willed and sometimes comes off as insensitive. Me on the other hand am a sap and a romantic and I will pour my heart out to her. I have talked to her about this because it bothers me and she says "I'm not going to open up because that means I'm vulnerable." I can understand this because she has been so hurt in the past, BUT we have been together a year and she knows she can trust me. I have never given her reason not to. I do so much for her and make it a point to let her know each day how much I appreciate and love her. Am I beating a dead horse here? Can I "make" her open up to me? Her distance is starting to push me away. Advice?
2 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender9 years agoWhy are all meat diets frowned upon when all veggie diets are not?
Some say that being Omnivore means you can choose to live without one or the other, but if a person eats an only meat diet it's frowned upon and deemed severely unhealthy. I'm not talking about ethics here, just health. If we are Omnivores that doesn't mean we are both Carnivore and Herbivore. Doesn't Omnivore mean we NEED both plants and meats?
7 AnswersOther - Food & Drink9 years agoGF hurt my feelings and I feel like I can't tell her?
Lately she's been really stressing about things and I've been doing all that I can to relieve her stress. I've been taking her kids places, making her dinner, giving her massages, making it a point to ask how her day is etc. Yesterday I finally got a new job that pays well so I was in a very good mood. I was joking around with her kids and we were laughing and having a good time and she went to the bedroom and "hid" so to speak. Later that night she said that sometimes I annoy her with my "immaturity" with the kids and that I unplug everything around the house and that men are so much more simpler etc. etc. (I'm a woman BTW) Basically she was just b*tching about little things I do that bother her. I just sat there and didn't really say anything and then she asked me why I treat her so good. I'm very confused by this. Is she taking things out on me or maybe she doesn't love me like she used to? I am trying so hard to make her happy and she says I am but it really doesn't show. On the other hand she recently has surpised me with an edible arrangement and a really sweet card saying how much she loves me etc., but these moments are fewer and fewer. What do you think? Oh and we have been together for little over a year.
4 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender9 years agoMy dog is sleeping under my bed?
I've had my dog for 4 years. I recently moved to a new place and of course my dog explored and has found her favorite spots already. She has never slept under my bed before, but for some reason she is doing it in my new place. She's a Lab so she isn't small and has to crouch and crawl underneath the bed to sleep. It's almost as if she is hiding. She only does it when I go to bed though. Otherwise she is roaming around or napping in the living room or hallway etc. She has a dog bed that she always slept on at my old place and now she won't touch it. Thoughts?
