When should I start applying to colleges?

I'm going to be a senior in high school this upcoming fall. Should I start applying to colleges this summer or wait until the next school year to start. I was a sophomore last year and i'm graduating a year early so none of my friends really know anything about it and I want to get an early start because I want to apply to a lot of places. Also, when is a good time to apply for scholarships? Thanks!

    Students apply the summer and fall of their senior year. It's helpful to have your choices narrowed down, an essay draft, and supplements completed before the school year begins. Have your English teacher and/or SAT tutor read over your essay, too. Apply for scholarships during your senior year.

    If you know have your top choice already, applying early would be a good choice.
