22 month old crying and wants carried.....help?
My 22 month old daughter is a little monster! I would say that she is probably happy for about 20 minutes per hour, the rest of the time she cries and wants me to carry her. It's really starting to wear me down. I work in the mornings and she goes to nursery but she has my attention all afternoon until she goes to bed. She wakens around 6am every morning and has a nap from 1pm until 3pm every afternoon. She has a set routine, breakfast, lunch, dinner, bath and bed are always the same time and it doesn't matter if she goes to bed at 7.30pm or 10pm, she still wakens at 6.00am which is another habit I'd like to break! She doesn't even waken up happy! When she wakes she starts to cry. I have another daughter who is three and I feel so sorry for her as she doesn't get any time with me because her little sister is constantly wrapping herself around my legs or crying at my feet. They are both so different, my eldest is a model child, she's so good but gets shouted at because her little sister is just so demanding. I've told my husband that I'm going to start taking our three year old once a week, just the two of us so that she can have some mummy time without having to share me but does anyone have some tips to deal with my toddler because I really am getting to breaking point with her. Thanks!
I never compare her with her sister, I'm only saying that they are two very different children. Of course I praise her when she's good. She has 90% of my time and attention. She gets lots of love and cuddles too, it would just be nice if she didn't cry so much and wrap herself round my legs!

Maybe she autism.Maybe she had food intolerances that can cause stomach bloating, gas, pain, constipation, loose stools.Maybe she has sensory overload problems. That is sensitivity to lights, sound, touch, and smell.Gluten, dairy and corn intolerance are the top offending foods.Maybe, some melatonin at bedtime would help. Some nutritional supplements.Try feeding an all natural diet.No artifical ingredients.Maybe a homeopath would be of help.Look at the books,Gut and Psychology Syndrome and Children With Starving brains and The LCP Solution.babies are being born without and good gut flora, due to anti biotics.Much of our food is genetically modiefied and processed.Stripped of the enzy,es and nutrients.Look at book reviews at Amazon for those books.Get rid of florescent lights.Use natural cleaning chemicals.

She is asking for advice not to be attacked. Some people need to grow up. Children are hard to manage sometimes and YES can very well be cute little monsters at times. For her to say that does not make her any less of a mother people. My 14 month old daughter wants to be held all the time also. She makes it almost impossible to cook clean or even us the bathroom lol. The way I see it is, she will eventually be to big to carry someday and I will miss it, so im soaking in all the cuddles I can get until then. The best advice I can give you is to try and distract her with a toy, or when she is pulling on your leg to be held grab her hands and sing a song and dance with her. Show her how much fun shes missing by not wanting to play. I know easier said than done. Well good luck sorry to hear your having a rough time. Just know its a phase and soon will be just a memory.

She's only 2 sweetie, of course she wants your attention all the time. When your older child was two, life was different, she had more of your attention. Now it's divided. Taking your older one out for a date is a good idea.
Try picking her up as soon as she grabs you or asks and hold her for a bit each time. She obviously needs more physical time with you, try giving it to her and see if it changes her attitude. If you have to stop what you are doing to cuddle, then stop for a few minutes. If you are doing something in the kitchen, have her up on a chair beside you so she can see.

This can very very tiring for you ....to break her early waking , try cutting down on her daytime nap but remember the change is not going to happen over night , it may take a week or two , but you must be consistent .
The wanting to be picked up is something a lot of little toddlers do...however to break any habit you must replace it with something else ...maybe have something that you know for sure she really likes to play with , and distract her with that , again it's going to take time / calmness / and a lot of patience on your part . When she is good give her tons of praise and encouragement ....she is a toddler and she is pushing her boundaries , but it's up to you to set the boundaries . This behaviour will pass .
Remember.... consistency , consistency , consistency .

Why would you call your own kid a monster? When I was born and my brother was 20 months, my mom thought she won't have time with him cuz I was then a newborn, so she left me with my dad, and she and him went places 3 times a week. But she spends equal time with both of us now. And she's expecting another baby, so this might be shortened. and If I were you, I would spend time with BOTH, not just the 3 year old. Just talk to both of them and have equal time with both, and make sure your 20 month old understands this.

If my mum constantly compared me to my 'perfect' sister I think I would be a little monster as well. She's not even 2. Of course she wants carrying, do you praise her at all, or constantly tell her she is naughty? If you tell her she is a monster then that is how she will behave!
