Hey! I'm a christian too and I started reading the gospels - especially Mark. It really depends what your looking for! There is soooo much good stuff in the bible! You could really just start anywhere!

Good question. I am giving you a star for it.

OK. To answer your question, I would start in the Book of John. John will settle whether Jesus is God, part of the Godhead.

You may want to go to the Synoptic Gospels, Matthew, Mark and Luke after John.

I would then read the Bible from beginning (Genesis) to end (Revelation). Every ten or so verses, take time in between to meditate (think) on what you have read.

Pray and ask God to help you understand your reading.

    Thanks.

Anybody can understand the Bible in the sense of English comprehension. However, you have to remember the the Bible is a spiritual book which like all things connected with the Spirit, must be spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2:14).

This means NOBODY can understand deep spiritual meanings of the Bible unless they are born again and Spirit - filled.

We are all born natural folks at birth, and cut off from God's Spirit through the Adamic sin nature and on our way to hell already, so make sure that you have obeyed Jesus and been born again (John 3:3) because only those who are born again are changed from being natural in Adam, to being Spiritual in Christ by the Holy Spirit. Unless we repent we shall perish (Luke 13: 1 & 5) and repentance isn't just words, it means repenting of our past sins and being water baptized as adults, by full immersion, in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Christening doesn't cut it, because babies cannot repent or make a decision to be water baptized by full immersion which is death and burial into Christ's death and burial,(Romans 6: 3 & 4) so that the Adamic sin nature can be crucified (Romans 6:6) so that we are no longer slaves of sin (Romans 6: 5 - 7)

People who think they are Christians just because they have been in the Church for years, are in for a surprise. Jesus said we must "strive" to enter through the narrow gate because many Jesus said, would seek to enter AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO (Luke 13:24). That's because they never got born again.

If you would like me to send you one of my short studies on how to be born again (and SAVED) let me know and I will willingly send it as long as you have an e-mail address.

Start in the New Testament. Read Ephesians,John, Psalms, Corinthians. Those are all good places to start. Best if you join a Bible study within your church. They always love helping someone understand their faith and can help lead you all around the Bible.

Sir; there's a distinction between the 'bible' and scripture regardless of what some 'christians' would tell one. specifically, the SCRIPTURAL previous testomony (KJV) is the regulation of Moses which starts off Ex. 20; no longer the unscriptural previous testomony being Genesis-Malachi. for the time of 2008, I study Genesis-Revelation 6 circumstances, no longer counting my different time readings of scripture.

Get a modern bible(one with up to date word-use, the old-World word use, is what makes the bible harder to get, in modern language, it's a lot easier to understand) and read Jesus' story first.

Pay attention to the HOW to live part, it's all about getting beyond judgment, caring about people, and striving for something better in a balanced, and 'peace-of-mind' way.

I started with Genesis. It is the beginning and sets in motion the narrative of the rest of the bible. The "seed" that bruises Satan in the head is developed throughout the rest of the bible leading to Jesus.

From the beginning of the Old Testiment I suppose..Though well new Testiment can be the first but its just easier to understand all if you start from the beginning chronologically.. But if you just started and it seems hard for you to understand may be its reasonable to read Gospel at first.

    Read what you find interesting.

Revelations is difficult and the Old Testament is a history of sorts. I would stay with the gospels at first and the letters in red.
