WWE is PG becuase they have no competittion?

lets face it why should wwe push the envelope and have great RAWs & SmackDowns? they have no need to. wCw was the only reason they needed to do edgy things in their shows, once vince bought them out what was the use? he owned everything. I do like TNA but they are not really competition.

Yes. In the early days of WWE, WWE was PG as back then, WCW wasn't a huge threat to it but little did WWE wonder, WCW started to rise up the rank and became WWE's competitor. Vince McMahon know that WCW can end WWE for good so he started to put edgy things in the show to ensure that the viewers from WWE will stay tuned to WWE and to attract WCW viewers in the process. Personally, Vince McMahon made a good call here. If he refused to change the ratings, god who knows what will happen to WWE right now. Hell there will be no such thing called WWE in the first place.

The reasons why Vince McMahon reverted to the PG ratings are his wife's presidential candidacy and to gain more money. He knows very well that by making WWE PG, more kids will tuned in and this means more cash will rolls into WWE. Also Vince McMahon wanted WWE to be PG all along. He has no intentions to make WWE into a violence show like CZW and those hardcore wrestling promotions. He want it to be a friendly show where parents can enjoy the product with their kids. Also Vince McMahon knows that TNA is nowhere near WWE's level so that is why he maintain the PG ratings since 2008.

Yep. As long as the WWE has a comfortable lead over every other TV wrestling show, they can do whatever they want. And what they want is to make RAW and Smackdown as "family friendly" as they can, without driving away older fans, so they can continue to sell boatloads of merchandise.

The only ways that will change is when TNA or some other company becomes a threat to the WWE's ratings dominance, or the older fans just get tired of the WWE as it is and stop watching it.

The WWF got "attitude" in the later 90's simply because WCW already had it and were killing them in the ratings. When WCW went out of business there was no longer a need for the WWF to be a sleazy and bloody weapons-filled circus. So they stopped doing that and went back to being "family friendly" and selling boatloads of merchandise.

Yeah, once WCW ended WWE had no competition. But I can see ROH getting bigger and perhaps be somewhat bigger the TNA.
