Why do I get very nervous during presentations?

I'm always the most talkative person in class, and I have no problem reading, or raising my hand, but when it comes to presenting i get so nervous. my voice quivers, and there's always one point where my throat closes up and i cant talk.

how do i fix this??

This is a case where you need to practice. Speaking in class is no problem - you're answering a question. Making a presentation IS different. You need to practice in front of people to get the same feeling of presenting in front of a class. Try recording it on a webcam. Ask your friends or family if they will watch. Think about great sportspeople, they may be good athletes but they don't expect to play in front of people without lots of practice.

Be very prepared. Practise the speech in the mirror or to a few friends at least 5 or 10 times. Imagine everyone in the class is naked.

    That should help

great piece of advice I got from a speech teacher in High School that has served me well for many years and many, many presentations...

Everyone gets nervous. It is normal. It is healthy. Accept it. Once you accept this, you can then concentrate simply on your talk. Slow breathing techniques and well preparedness are additional keys that will make your presentation soar.

    hope that helps
