Epson Printer problem. My printer will not print.?

Hi I have an (EPSON STYLUS DX7450) Printer witch I brought a few years back and only used it twice and since then the printer has been setting in a box.

I decided to get out my printer and start putting it to good use to print out some documents and stuff, however when I hooked up my printer & connected it to my computer, the low ink light was flashing, so I took out the old ink cartridges they seemed to be full of ink but I still went out and got some new ink cartridges.

So I put the new ink cartridges in my printer and switched on my printer. I notice that the low ink light was still on so I ignore it thinking that it will probably go off as I've just installed new ink cartridges.

I printed an image from the Internet and it printed wharf the image and then came up with an error message. So I printed a photo from my computer this time, and it does the same thing, prints wharf an image and then comes up with an error.

When I print out word documents I get blank pages out of the printer.

I have installed the printer correctly and I have inserted the cartridges in correctly.

Does anybody know what the problem could be?

I'm guessing that there could be a blockage somewhere but not sure.

Thanks...

Did you reset the ink levels and send them to the printer?

Otherwise the printer still thinks the cartridges are still empty.

Long time since I had an Epson printer but most of the printers

I have used you have to use the reset for the above reason.

Start - Control Panel - devices and printers - double click on the title

This should show your printer - double click on your printer and select change print options

Select maintainance tab, and carry out (possibly several times) a bit of head cleaning and nozzle checking - this should get your printer going.

(I use these instructions for my Epson DX4400 - yours will be pretty similar)

The printer heads have dried out.

I don't THINK there is a way to repair this....but I'll be watching the other answers with interest to see if there is a solution as I have the same problem!
