"Fleeing" To the USA while owing Money to Creditors?
Hi there, here is my situation and plan....
We havent' paid any of our bills for a few months -- credit, property taxes, mortgage payments, utilities etc.. you name it
I have been laid off
Our house is for sale and will likely go into foreclosure
Plan:
We are moving to the USA, my wife is a USA citizen.
Question: If by "fleeing" to the USA and leaving all my bills behind will I be arrested at the border come time for me to renew my passport???
Thanks,

No problem. Unless you are actually charged with a crime in Canada you have nothing to worry about. Your credit problems in Canada won't even follow you to the USA. You'll start with a clean slate.
No credit check is involved with obtaining a US visa. If it was most sponsors would not qualify under any circumstances.

Absconding on bills is a good way to get charged with financial fraud(s). You're in Canada? You better believe US & Canada cooperate fully - more closely than sibling kittens snuggle together. You will not pass muster for background checks for immigration. Your US-citizen spouse will not pass background checks to get a job. And without earning enough to support you & have a home for you, she cannot even file a petition & Affidavit of Support for you to enter US.
Pay off ALL of your debts. You have no choice whatsoever. You cannot move to US until you do, and you cannot remain in Canada, and you cannot go anywhere else. Pay to play or you are well and truly you-knowed any which way you turn.

You can't just move to the USA because your wife is a citizen. You will still need a visa, and most visas require a background check.

No, you won't be arrested but they can come after you in US courts. US courts will authorize wage garnishments.
Its NOT a "clean slate"
It won't stop you from getting a passport or living in the US either.
The debts will just follow you, simple as that.

Nice one So you don't want to pay your bills.
That means maybe some one else will suffer ,because you don't want to pay back money you borrowed.
So you can flee to another country and possibly do it all over again ,
Nice

tell them he does no longer stay there and to end calling. to any extent further touch would be omitted. do away with my form from the touch record. enable your brother comprehend this and to end applying you address. it is sweet to to run credit comments to ascertain you're no longer listed on his debt! (this passed off to me) be useful to on no account co-sign something with him as he does no longer pay his costs! All mail ought to be back by writing "return TO SENDER - ADDRESSEE no longer AT THIS address" in great marker. replace: To get your brother to end doing this and face his widely used jobs, you could tell the callers his paintings form in case you comprehend it.
