Type of cooling system?
I live in a apartment and Iam looking to either buy a small air conditioner or a portable evaporative cooler. I have seen prices for some that are pretty close. The cooler would be good to move around, though Iam not sure of how well it cools compared to a air conditioner. Iam looking to cool off the livingroom/kitchen area, its not that big a space. Any ideas which would be best at cooling most efficiently

It depends on the Relative Humidity. Evap coolers work best below 20%RH above that, get an A/C.
An A/C requires external venting, or a line set run from an external compressor/condenser and the evaporator/air handler.
An Evap cooler can be run standalone, but should have venting to extract the humid air it generates.It requires a water source as well.

cooler is good ,, but air conditioner is very good,, just use 0.5hp aircon for your small room size
