How could it be proven that the doctor performed the abortion knowing that gender selection or discrimination?

With all the recent talk about the bill that didn't pass that would've banned abortions based on gender and/or racial discrimination I'm curious, if it would've passed, how could it be proven that the doctor performed the abortion knowing that gender selection or discrimination was the womans reason behind it?

Perhaps someone else would have testified against the Doctor (nurse, clinic administrator, relative of the patient, etc).

I don't think it could really, which is probably why it didn't pass.

Anyway, it would make no difference. If a woman wants a girl and finds out its a boy, its not like she's gonna say "I don't want a son" as her reason for abortion. She could say millions of things- too young, not ready, don't want a child, etc.

    Its a silly bill.

    I'm pro choice, BTW

And also, it would be too difficult to enforce. Unless the woman expressely cites gender as the reason to abort, it could be for any reason.

Gender based abortions make me feel bad, but its still not my body and I really shoudln't have a say over what another person does with theirs.

    Hope this helps :)

Really, they couldn't in most cases. All the person would have to say is that they simply don't want the pregnancy, or can't afford it, or whatever. Then poof, they can have an abortion because they don't like the gender rather than because of whatever else.

Though it should be known that gender selective abortions don't even happen often enough in the U.S to register as a statistic. Our culture would much rather simply keep having children until the golden child arrives.

medical sex determination is done by utilizing taking a sperm pattern and spinning it in a certerfuge. Sperm with the X chromosome (that may effect in a woman) is, i believe, quite heavier than sperm with the Y chromosome. Spinning the pattern, they are able to make the heaviest sperm fall to the exterior and the lighter sperm fall to the interior. They then use in elementary words the sperm you want to apply (no matter if you wish a boy or a woman) and attempt to inseminate you with the sperm. it may take countless tries and is typically quite extreme priced. yet an selection selection may be to create embryo's, as inspite of the truth that you've been dealing with ivf, and then try them for the sex that you want earlier to putting them. seeing that that's yet another type of ivf, probabilities of useful implantation are low and it may take countless tries to prevail. Non-medical sex determination is typically confined to previous different halves thoughts about what you should do yet there is not any information that they are fairly useful.

It can't be. Patient-Dr. confidentiality. That is why is is redundant to pursue.
