is it safe to say organized religion is evil.?

Aren't there some religions that aren't violent? Ones that don't really focus on the afterlife? Like Taoism.

Maybe it's not religion itself, but they way people adhere to the principles of their religion without bothering to think on it. Or when people use religion to do bad things in the name of a god. Or when they use it to feel superior to anyone not in the club. You know? I mean, some religious philosophies are legitimate. But people get so passionate about it because to them, it represents truth. It gives their life purpose, and so many people are so desperate for something meaningful, that they'll willingly go along with whatever.

Maybe it's like money. People say that it's the root of all evil. But money is amoral. It's the love of money.

I guess it depends on your definition of religion.And maybe my mind will change after I read god is not Great, by Christopher Hitchens. It's the next one on my ilst.

The problems with religions is that God never used more than one single religion, nor does he now-- there is one that stands out from the rest--they actually listen to Jesus and apply his words--this religion is headed on earth by the faithful and discreet slave whom Jesus appointed over all of his belongings to give spiritual food at the proper time. Its obvious its a christian religion. Here is a great example on how to find it--- ww2-- which would Jesus choose for his followers if he was asked??? stand on both sides of the war and kill one another( brothers in christ) for someone like Adolf Hitler-- or go into the concentration camps and prisions so as not to kill ones own brothers in Christ.

Yes, people are born into theie religions,and simply follow blindly whatever is said or taught or preached to them. Perhaps, you are right that people need to change and start thinking of what they are preached and see things differently, with logic and reality and discarding those supertitions.

There is no doubt that religious people are a biased hypocrites.but sadly they are powerful and people are made to believe and practise whatever they teach. They dont seem to have the courage to go in the opposite direction.

It is ok if they stick to the belifs which are good but to that which are ridiculous - I don't know ...
