MLB All Star Game??????

Who Else agrees that the MLB All star game has gotten really messed up, really now it's not about the best players, it is just about the players who have the best fan base, as seen in the Fan Voting, where the Texas rangers have ALL of their starters in the top 5, and 4 of them are #1.

What I think should happen to the voting, is the HoF voters should vote the all stars along with the fans, only the HoF voters vote would be counted for 70% of the votes, and the fans vote should be weighted for 30% of the votes.

What are your thoughts on the All Star game, and how could the MLB make it more fair, and actually get the BEST players in the All Star Game. Really, look, MIKE NAPOLI? HE'S DONE NOTHING THIS YEAR. BRETT GARDNER! HE'S HAD 28 ABs THIS SEASON!.

Here is the link of the All Star voting so far this season.

Another thing thats absolutely ridiculous. On the 2ND DAY of baseball, the All Star Ballots came out. Are you serious MLB? I don't think fans know who the best players then...

Here is the link to the current vote leaders as of yesterday. I agree with you. The MLB all-star voting is really messed up.Fans tend to just vote for their favorite players rather than vote for the players that have shined above the rest. Giancarlo Stanton is batting .295/.370/.575 with 13 home runs and 40 rbi, yet, he isn't even in the top 15 in all-star voting. Jon Jay and Victorino cracked the list just barely.Well, Stanton is doing way better than both of them. Also, Cargo finished 13th in the all-star voting. He should be in the top 5.Carlos Ruiz the better than any catcher hitting wise, yet he's only 4th.Ruiz's numbers are great. He should be number one for the NL catcher.Jose Altuve is doing great, yet, Rickie Weeks is ahead of him.

What I think they should do is have the players, managers, general managers, or anyone associated with the team should vote for the players. Now, if they did this, they wouldn't be voting for guys like Weeks.A lot would be looking at guys like Stanton, Cargo,Ruiz,McCutchen, etc. etc.You wouldn't have fans voting for their own player over and over and over. And they should have it where the manager/teammate/anyone else with the team not be able to vote for their players that way there is no bias here. Now, it is a little fun voting for players, but you could just have the fan's votes woth 30% and the players/managers votes be worth 70%.

Money Maker came up with some great points. I don't watch the all-star game because it is a joke. How is Carlos Ruiz not number 1 among NL catchers? And Yadier Molina is a great defender but an average offensive catcher. For a fan base that seems as obsessed with offense as baseball fans are, how is he the starting NL catcher every year?

I agree, a good example for this year is definitely Carlos Ruiz. Not only does he do his job as a catcher and does it well, he can actually hit. I mean, seriously hit. The only reason Molina would be in the lead is maybe because he can make those throws to second base quicker, but that's not why, is it? Nope. So the Cardinals won the World Series... doesn't mean their catcher should be in the front.

    I agree

& Carlos Ruiz needs to be in the lead not Yadier Molina, Chooch is the best catcher in the National League

All-star voting has always been a popularity contest, this is nothing new. I honestly don't mind the fans voting. Starters don't play very long, and those deserving to make the team usually end up doing so.

Carlos Ruiz has easily been the best catcher in the National League this season, and yet is fourth in voting.

    VOTE FOR CHOOCH

If you really want to make it fair, why not have players vote in.
