Which is the best buy?
I am looking to purchase a car when I start work again and I'm torn between two totally different cars.
My two choices are: 1993 Buick LeSabre and a Nissan 300ZX (Z32) with possible turbo (1990-1996)
The Buick is a full-size sedan while the Z is a 2-door coupe/convertible, a sports/GT car. They both run a V6 engine, Buick is a 3.8L verses the straight 3.0L with possible turbo. The Buick only comes with a 4-speed automatic while the Z has a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. Obvious the Z is much faster but I dont plan on hitting the track yet. According to Wikipedia the LeSabre gets 18mpg city/28mpg hwy, I couldn't find the mpg on the Z but according to a forum of 300zx owners, the car averages 20+mpg and how you drive it affects it as well. I am geared towards Japanese tuners cars not jusr because of looks, style, and outstanding peeformance its because they make reliable cars. I dont know the street prices of either car but I assume the Z is more expensive because of modifications and just being a sports car. The extra room and trunk space is a nice luxury but I dont plan on being a cab driver. And I'm not sure insurance prices on either of them. My dad has owned multiple GM cars such as Cadillac and even a Buick Lesabre and they were both money pits. He also owned a 280ZX Turbo and he absolurely loved the car, it was a manual as well and drove it 40 miles to work each day. The only issue the car had was a fuse blew in the A/C. The Cadillac had a major overheating problem and broke down several times and the Buick had loads of issues primarily leaked power steering fluid. Basically he put more money into repairing the two GM's than what he paid for the cars. He actually got the Z by trading the guy an old iphone for the sports car. It was fairly good on gas mileage being a tiny 2-door manual even with the turbo meanwhile the GM were bad on mileage. I do plan on keeping this car for a long time not having it for 6 months than dumping it. My biggest concerns are: mileage and affordability.
If you know of any other vehicles that are a good buy too, please let me know!
Other cars I've been looking at:
Nissan 240SX
Honda Civic
Mitsubishi Eclipse
Mazda RX-7/RX-8- Out of my price range
Toyota Supra- Out of my price range
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO- Out of my price range
Subaru Impreza (WRX-STI)- Out of my price range
Lemme know if you know of another car!

Seriously how do compare these two cars!?!
Nissan 300ZX (particularly turbo) is a classic! Unless are gonna be haling fat kids around, I'd take it over the buick 366 day out of the year!.... n yes i know is only 365... except leap year...
But if "mileage and affordability." are really biggest concerns, why hell are looking at these cars in first place? Neither really come to mind when think of these cars.
Also one comment made about insurance, will definitely not make a big difference with either of these cars.

In a nutshell considering that the stock has suddenly turn out to be cheaper, some investors who were not beforehand desirous about buying it immediately come to a decision that it usually is a good investment. For instance AAPL has fallen greatly over the last few weeks from a high of nearly $one hundred fifty to below $120. A lot of people who owned the stock have naturally decided that it's time to get out and/or shorts have borrowed the inventory and bought it. Nonetheless I (an investor without a prior stake in Apple) suppose that the company stays an excellent corporation with high-quality long term potentialities, and for this reason i am far more enthusiastic about buying in at $a hundred and twenty than i am at $a hundred and fifty. So, as a common rule, when share prices cut down new buyers are available who believe the inventory is an efficient price at its new level. By and large although your intestine response will not be misplaced-- folks are inclined to count on that trends will continue, and really quite often as soon as dangerous information comes a organization will proceed to say no. I tend to consider that the old axiom 'do not try to seize a falling knife' is just right recommendation. Nonetheless after a inventory has been pummeled it can be a excellent suggestion to seem for buying possibilities. Excellent luck.

I'm going to assume you're under the age of 25 which is the magic year for insurance. Depending on who is paying for the insurance and who is the insured driver, the 300 will be astronomical if you are paying for it and the main driver. You'll want to have the 300 looked at as well, as being a sports car, someone may have driven it into the ground. However, they may have babied it as well and had it garage kept, taken out only on the weekends. Hard to say without looking at it. A '93 LeSabre probably won't be the most reliable, however it would be like driving a couch on wheels.
Source(s): Can't really compare anything I've been in to either aside from maybe my '89 Cutlass to the LeSabre ... very comfy. - 9 years ago
There shouldn't be any competition, the buick is an extremely poorly built model year that is going to give you problems left and right and is going to be a burden while the Nissan is very reliable and is fast too. Don't waste your time buying that piece of junk Buick. They went out of business for a reason.
