Is my school a mcdojo, if it is should I quit based on the additional details?

We have class several times a week. One night we do forms. The other night self-defense. And others sparring. I am getting ready for my first degree black belt test, it has taken me about just under six years. When we do sparring however, there is little to no contact, but I have been hit plently of times. My last test I went in front of a master. I performed kicks, hand techniques, forms, one-steps, and we had to spar 2 on 1, can't remember what type of contact, but I did get hit, then we had to do two kicks to break a board. Running jump side kick and jump spinning wheel. Then we had read an essay outloud that we had to write. I wasn't bound to any long term contracts. The pay period was by every five weeks.

    it sounds legit to me.

some schools teach theory more than others and that's probably why you had to write a speech.

not all styles are full contact and even though your teacher isn't teaching you full contact that doesn't mean you cant compete full contact to get a better feel for it.

you should stay but expand your horizons and try your hand work against boxers in a boxing match or try your kicking skills in a taekwondo match or try a muay thai match for stand up fighting & clinch fighting, it's really up to you what you do outside of the class room and in my spare time I competed in tons of full contact combat sports tournaments to test my skills.

you don't have to quit your style to compete in combat sports that's silly!!!

anyone can join a judo competition even if they do karate and vice verca!!!
