well yes, the USA women's soccer team has already won the world cup and olympics many times!

They could do. They do have some good players, and as long as they keep coming through, at some point they could hit a 'golden age'. The USA have been in the top 30 of the FIFA rankings for most of the last few years, so they are a good team. As for the fact that the American public do not care much about football: That is true, but they cared even less in 1930 when the USA came third.

@Shay, it's that type of mentality that don't get the USMNT the amount of fans deserved. If Americans stopped hopping on other countries winning wagon, (Not saying you're a bandwagoner, you could have Italian decent) who are a SIGNIFICANT amount, then maybe the USMNT would have a much greater support system behind them. Not saying that the amount of fans determine how good you are, but they are substantial to how you play. A team never wants to dissapoint their fans. If the amount of fans they have are on a grander scale, maybe they'd be even more determined to win.
My NT (USA) aren't world class, but i love them for who they are and who they represent. They're real believers in themselves and one day, they'll shock the world. One day.
They've came from nothing to something in the course of twenty years, we'll see what happens in the upcoming yeas.
@Fola, apparently you haven't met much USMNT fans in your lifetime.

Yes, at some point they will. Look at how they almost won the Confederations Cup three years ago. Football has made huge strides in America and has the potential to get much larger. It may take 20 years but the US will become a perennial contender at some point.

Probably not. All the other countries are so experienced and dedicated to their football (soccer) teams that America barely stands a chance. Americans are too caught up with their version of football; I hardly ever hear about American soccer teams. I stick to rooting for other countries (especially Italy!) for football.

You need more than training to win a major tournament, you need love and passion for the game so the USA will never come close to win a major tournament. They didn't even qualify for the Olympic games and the only reason the qualify for the world cup is because they have opponents like Panama and Dominican republic!
