    a) tan x = 3 sin x

    sin x/cos x = 3 sin x

    sin x = 3 sin x cos x

    sin x - 3 sin x cos x = 0

    sin x (1 - 3 cos x) = 0

    sin x = 0 or 1 - 3 cos x = 0

    x = 0°...........1 = 3 cos x

    ...................1/3 = cos x

    ......................± 70.59° = x

    b) 4x^2 + px + 2p = 0

    D = p^2 - 4(4)(2p) = 0

    p^2 - 32p = 0

    p(p - 32) = 0

    p = 0 or p - 32 = 0

    .................p = 32
