What is the best way to erradicate poison ive?
Last week I started tearing down a split rail fence that was collapsing. Two days after starting this project I was struck with a scorching case of poison ivy. What is the best way to kill off the poison ivy before I revisit my project???

Ortho has a poison ivy killer that won't hurt the surrounding plants (don't use near ferns though) It has a foam 'marker' so you can see where you've sprayed it.
Be careful when disposion of the dead vines or plants. You can still have an allergic reaction if you touch it. And NEVER burn poison ivy. If you inhale the smoke your lungs can have an allergic reaction, just like your skin outside your body can.

Hi Jay
The best way to eradicate the poison ivy is with Round Up herbicide. It will kill it completely. Be aware that even though you kill the poison ivy, you must be careful as you cut and remove it because it will still have sap inside that will break you out.
I hope this helps

Hello Jay Dub,
My name is Gardengail and I work for the Home Depot in the garden center. One of the best products to use is Roundup Poison Ivy killer, it is for woody type weeds and regular Roundup is not. It may take up to 2 sprayings to get rid of the poison ivy, as it is a difficult weed to eradicate, so follow the directions.
Hope this helps,
Gardengail

Use fels-naptha soap on you and roundup on the poison ivy. It's still potent after it dies, so wear long sleeves and gloves next time. Plus, wash those clothes separately from the rest of the laundry.
