Should I get a MacBook Pro or Air?
I am looking into purchasing a MacBook when I go to Florida next year, but im not sure whether i should get the Pro or the Air. I do have an iMac already but i am looking for something i can take with me. I am pursuing a career in Web Design/Software Development & occasionaly use programs such as photoshop and illustrator. I like the air but i dont know wether it is worth the money? Thanks!

MacBook Pro. Air is small, but it stores less space and is easier to crack and break.

The Air is basically a netbook - no good - except for surfing and sending emails.
The Macbook Pros that Apple still makes have tiny screens - Apple has discontinued the 17" http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/news/apple/3363581/appl... - if you want one, be quick before they run out. Tiny screens are fine for an emergency edit, but no good for doing all your work on. The 17" would have been just about acceptable.
If you are photoshopping and designing you want a desktop with a large monitor - the bigger the better.
If you want to use something on the go, they still make PC Laptops with 17" screens - and PCs running Windoze can run all the software you need too, and cost about half as much as the nearest similar spec macbook.

I feel MacBook Pro is a good option for you
1. Very nice unibody construction
2. Plenty fast for casual use, with a very decent integrated graphics card
3. Perfect size - Not too heavy or light
4. User upgradeable RAM and HDD

The Air makes use of Flash reminiscence and not an SSD by employing the way. I went with the 15" professional with the aid of fact i wanted an inner disk stress and a greater effectual CPU. i like it and that i comprehend I made the best choice. additionally remember the Intel snap shots scales as you place greater RAM in the gadget. At 4GB you have 384MB and at 8GB you have 512MB. yet another ingredient for the pro is which you would be able to set up a SSD or Hybrid stress in case you want to and set up yet another HDD as against the disk stress.

Get the MacBook pro. In fact, you're probably going to want to settle with the retina display version if you have the money because it will be a better option due to the better specs.
Source(s): I'm going to purchase the 256ssd 15" mbp 2.3ghz retina display version. - MechLv 69 years ago
I think the 13" Air is just too thin and light in my opinion. I have a 15" MBP and prefer it. The one thing the 13" MBA has over the 13" MBP is the 1440X900 resolution.

unless you need to put it in a envalope the pro. the air doesnt even have a cd drive so if your buying software on a disk then youl need the pro. the air only cost more because its small is has solidstate hard drive whitch cost more, its not better just smaller and its cost lots to make thngs small.

Pro, the air is just to show you have enough money to put your laptop in an envelope!

air is not for serious development, just browsing and email.
get a MBP for doing real stuff.
