Who really gives a rats what Paul thinks anyway?

I was trying to get some sleep the other night in a hotel so I grabbed the bible (for a change)... Paul was saying something about how a man can divorce a woman of she doesnt put out, and a woman can divorce a man but never marry again, unless he kicks the bucket... you know... words to that effect.... but what I found interesting was the way Paul put it.... he was saying, in effect, Jesus never said anything about it... but I think bla bla bla.... Which got me to wondering... why worry about what Paul thinks?... and then I fell asleep.

So... why worry what Paul thinks?

Churchie Christians follow Paul the bigot in order to justify their bigotry. They rarely quote Jesus' beatitudes because Jesus was not a bigot.

Paul never quoted any of Jesus' advice, because Paul never knew what Jesus taught.

One churchie person recently explained why he follows Paul. He said, "Paul tells us what Jesus forgot to tell us."

    ***

@RB: You wrote "He [Paul] also clarified when he wrote "by permission". -- Think about that ........... Just because Paul said he had permission to contradict Jesus did not mean that was a fact.

Later in the Bible, according to the Bible, Jesus said Paul was a liar.

Jesus commends the church at Ephesus for discerning the lying apostles. Rev. 2:1,2.

Paul was the apostle to Ephesus. Eph.1:1.

Jesus not only referred to Paul as a fraud - he called him and his representatives "Liars"

    ****

More about Paul: And how he contradicted himself.

    Paul states that he does not lie. Rom.9:1; 2 Cor.11:31; Gal.1:20; 1 Tim.2:7.

Paul states that he does lie. Rom.3:7.

    173. Paul said that he does not use trickery. 1 Thes.2:3.

Paul admits to using trickery. 2 Cor.12:16.

    174. Paul says that circumcision is nothing. 1 Cor.7:19.

Paul says that circumcision is profitable. Rom.2:25; Rom.3:1,2.

    175. Do not covet. Rom.7:7; Rom.13:9.

    Paul says covet. 1 Cor.12:31; 1 Cor.14:39.

    176. Paul teaches not to steal. Eph.4:28.

Paul admits to stealing. 2 Cor.11:8.

    177. Paul was assured that he would not be hurt. Acts 18:9,10.

Paul was often physically abused. 2 Cor.11:23-27.

    178. Paul states that the law is necessary. Rom.3:31.

Paul states that the law is not necessary. Rom.6:14.

    179. Jesus said to go and baptize. Mt.28:19.

Paul said he was not sent to baptize. 1 Cor.1:17.

    180. Paul said he was not sent to baptize but to preach. 1 Cor.1:17.

    Paul baptized. 1 Cor.1:16.

    181. Jesus said that he did not come to abolish the law. Mt.5:17-19.

    Paul said otherwise. Eph.2:15.

    182. Jesus said that God did not condemn the world. Jn. 3:17.

Paul said that God did condemn the world. Rom.5:18.

Of such Old and New Testaments

    we put off the Old to put on the New;

And Paul writes over 50% of the NT, so

more than all 7 other NT writers combined.

And Paul's gospel isn't the gospel of Jesus,

    which was notably division, and not peace;

But as noted in Romans 1, it's two things:

    - "the gospel of God": Grace, and

    - "the gospel of Christ": Peace (Rest)

For when you get to the New Testament,

there's still this important matter to resolve:

    - the new and living way: grace

    - isn't new and dead way: law

    JC said it this way:

    - the God of the living: grace

    - isn't God of the dead: law

    Interesting thing about Paul is

    he's also author of Revelation:

    http://www.godshew.org/AuthorOfRevelation.html

    For if John were author of Revelation, it would end badly;

But it does not end baldy, cause it ends with Paul's token:

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be/is] with you all. Amen.

Who reads a book like that?!

Grabbing a book, turning to the middle of the book, and start reading from there, finishing a few minutes later while still in the same chapter??!!

I think if you read the whole book, not the Bible, but the book you were in (Romans? Galations? Ephesians? He wrote a bunch of those books) in the way you should normally read a book, I think that would later find out the answer to your own question.

Actually Jesus DID speak on divorce....Matthew 2, 5 and 19 for starters. Keep reading.

That wasn't the Bible you were reading - you must have been having a nightmare.

If you are going to use the Bible - quote it correctly

has nothing to do with sex

I Corinthians 7:10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.

13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. 14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

If the husband dies while they are still married (not divorced) - she is free to marry another - ONLY in the Lord (saved brother/sister)

39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

You need to study what Paul was saying.

Paul wrote a major part of the New Testament. He was inspired of God. He also clarified when he wrote "by permission".

God cared enough to put it in his written word. All scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching and setting things straight---- so in reality they are Gods inspired words so what you are saying is who gives a rats --- about what God thinks. not a wise decision.

You Obviously do because you asked the question, If You didn't Give a rat ? Why ask (all reasons you give are rejected in advance)
