oil blowing out from oil fill compartment?

why wpold oil blow out of the area where you put oil in

have an 89 volvo it is spitting out insane amounts of oil out of the oil fill spot when the cap is on and on tightly and correct,while driving it,causing it to go all over the exhaust and smoke alot! please help.while the car is running with cap off u can put your hand over the hole and it blows hard i know there will be some air,but so much that it blows the oil out while cap is on correctly?

    It is a sign the that the compression it by passing the rings and going in to oil pan. And also a little can be cause by stopped up vent for the crank case. A little will blow out of the fill tub with the cap off. If it does it with cap on. You have a unhealthly engine. Need major engine overhaul or replacement.

  • It is very normal. The oil cap should be in place any time the engine is running.

    Source(s): Shut the engine off and the problem goes away. If you still have some oil leaking past the oil cap with the engine running, the seal at the base of that is wearing out.

    its called blow back or blow by either you have a o ring that is bad or have some seals leaking

    oil overfilled - crank case vent valve not working (pcv valve) - mech damage , bad rings - piston -cyl wall - valves
