There's a file size limit per upload. Try separating your video into parts like part 1 , part 2 etc.

Like the first response says, your file may be too big. Are you using *.AVI video files? If so, the file you're trying to upload, if it's 6 minutes, will likely be ENORMOUS - I used to use *.AVI when I made stuff using Winows Movie Maker, and I had 3 minute long videos which were sometimes 30MB+. When this became too space consuming, I looked into compacting the filetype to something else and found that converting a *.AVI file to something like a *.MOV or *.WMV file can drastically reduce the size of the video file you're trying to upload.
There are two ways to do this (that I know of),
1) is the free way, which is using www.mediaconverter.org (or something similar), which is an online video conversion site allowing a long list of file types to be converted to just as many others. However, this takes FOREVER to do (most times) and the conversion of larger files can often take more than an hour (using broadband connection).
So
I bought 2) Adobe Premiere Elements 8 (now up to version 10, but I' holding out to buy something a little more sophisticated) which can literally take an enormous file and publish it into a fraction of that size (eg I once had a 100mb *.AVI movie and it publish in *.MOV format, in Premiere Elements, to something like 10mb but with slight loss of quality - ie the image looked very slightly lacking in definition, but it's marginal).
Using Adobe did the converting in about half a minute for what took the online sites much longer (Oh, I think a relatively good site is www.mediaconvert.com, but watch they publish your stuff using the right video codec or you may encounter problems like the video being unable to be edited ever again or something).
And, in terms of your question, larger files will take much longer to upload but you should see relatively constant progress, it'll just move more slowly.
