Can we ever be a unified America again?

I admit, I love discussing politics, as much as the next person.

And I am not asking that you agree or disagree with any of my points.

But it is just sad that there is so much hatred and anger, there are a lot of amazing people in America, amazing places.

I wish sometimes that there was a way for us to remember those thing's that unify us, and make us greater.

9-11 was on my birthday, so i suspect I will never forget it.

But I was also rather proud of how we became a nation united again.

We are all people, prick us and we bleed, we have far more thing's in common then what we will ever have uncommon.

Is there any room in your heart to love America, and to find common ground?

John F. Kennedy gave his great speech, about what you can do for your country.

I ask, are we not healthier and happier a unified country instead of one that is always bickering and arguing.

Is there no room for civility and manner's?

Thank you.

Being older than most on Y/A. I find it easy to look back at happier times, people smiling, glad to see you and have a short conversation with you. Even now merchants tend to be machines, as in give me your money and go. In the 1950's as children we often played outside till around 10;00 at night in rural Ft. Worth, not now tho, even adults fear to exit their homes with out some type of armament.

If people would only smile every once in a while when they meet you, it might help.

we have had several chances. but i blame a few things. nixon learned that the press could take down a president. without the press there is no breaking the watergate story and stopping the war. the takeaway for that side is we need someone like fox news to cover our side. . reagan decides to start the starve the beast program which is cutting revenue and overspending . the goal was to force social programs to be eliminated. the permanant campaign which scott mclellan talks about in his book. this is the policy of fighting year round rather than working out differences. add to this the plan to obstruct obama which was documented in drapers books dont ask what good we have done. i think the last componant is fear of the changing america . whites will become a minority and this scares some people enough that they want to stop it anyway they can.

Source(s): on the positive side obama won easily and dominated the youth vote. add that we have four more years of young voters who can now vote for him and we have a chance.

I almost 50 and I cant remember a time when there was that much untiy , I mean republicans and democrats have been about 50/50 since forever . In the 60's there were the hippies protesting, the 70's they wanted the Republicans in and with Reagan they wanted democrats in . it's just taking turns at appeasing the masses but rarely can everyone be happy with one party in power. It wasnt too unified when Lincoln was shot and I doubt if it will ever be.

Its tough. Everybody is very passionate about a particular issue, and when the other side wants to step on that it just pisses you off and disgruntled. For me its 2nd amendment rights: democrats want to take it away, republicans arent doing enough to protect it or repeal agregious legislation passed by democrats in the past 30 years limiting it. It makes me very angry at democrats and not so fond of republicans, that I really dont care for our side to work with democrats on anything and would rather fight tooth and nail the whole way each 4 years. I think if both parties just left social issues alone, we could see some cooperation and progress-until then, I ask my lawmakers to wage an all out war against democrats and their principles.

If we remember and take to heart things like"We the people"and "United we stand".But the politicians have us playing their game.Thinking of politics as if it were the super bowl, and that if one side(the one we pick to root for)wins then we have some how gained something. They are tricking people and convincing them that the other side is bad and they are goo. They do not make an effort to educate us about the facts and how they will work in our society.

I'm 57, my conception .... Greed took over. The leaders despatched all of the jobs over seas, leaving the folks with little or no approach to earn cash, the leaders of our nation have long past from caring about what is excellent for the persons to only caring about what makes them appear excellent. I noticed the USA going downhill years in the past and i think it is on its way "out". Sad to assert, nevertheless it has long gone down horrible in my fifty seven years. I'm no longer certain any nation is best, however greed has taken over the arena in my opinion :(

after George Bush won the election in Nov. '08 Albore sued to make him give the office back...the Florida Court was ready to do so when the USSC told them they didn't have standing in the case (that's ALL the federal court ruled, Lefties!) so Bush took office, then 9-11 happened, and at first the Left was relieved THEY didn't have to deal with it..until they saw how successful Bush was at uniting the country in our war!...that's when they started getting unbelievably vicious in their attacks! if you want to know how things got so badly polarized, look at the DNC!

Anything is possible for America to do. People divide themselves on political parties and that is what divides America, our founding fathers were actually against the idea of political parties, but to abide by the Constitution for how it was and to make the best decision for you COUNTRY, not your political party.
