Interstitial cystitis?

I was just diagnosed with IC. I am going in for hydrodestention next week and I'm scared to death.?

I am nineteen years old. I was first told I may have IC at fourteen, but waited until now to go to a uro (it has recently become much worse). I have had three previous surgeries, so anesthesia is nothing new. How much pain will I be in when I wake up? How long will the pain last? Is the pain worse than the pain of an appendectomy? Some one please help me. I am terrified.

I had this test/procedure in November. I wouldn't say I was in any pain after. I Felt pressure in my bladder stomach area for about a week. It felt like someone was pushing on my stomach. My back hurt a bit it was soar. Make sure your get pyridium or Uribel prescription if you don't have one already. It will be painful to urinate. Those drugs will help with that. Just keep drinking lots of water to dilute the acid in your urine. This test is needed to properly diagnosis you. You can do it it will be ok. I was miss diagnosed and in severe pain for 9 months. The new doctor I went to did this test and found out it was ic. I am a lot better now that I have ways to cope. If you have any questions about anything let me know.

Hello, I don't have any immediate answers, but I can tell you you'll probably find some good basic info in a good nursing text. If you have a problem, it is always a good idea to inform yourself about it from a reliable source so you know what to expect and have a better idea of what your options are. In my opinion if you are more informed, it won't be so scary. Hope you feel better soon.
