When you hit the Max Level Cap (Let's use Modern Warfare 3 for example) you get the option to Prestige. What happens when you prestige is, you get a special title and emblem. Also in MW3 you get a prestige token, which you can buy Double(Weapon)XP/Titles/Emblems/and Guns.

The Ups of Prestige:

-Title

-Emblem

-Prestige Tokens.

The Downs of Prestige:

-Restart at Level 1

-Lose all your weapons

Prestige is when you get to a certain level and enter prestige mode. Once you prestige then you have to start over completely with guns and anything else that you have unlocked. Your rank will now be whatever prestige level whatever.

prestige is your level in the game when u reach a certain level u can prestige which means the more u prestige the more u are put up against more skilled foes. prestige is like the highest rank u can get in multiplayer.
