My daughter's fish just had babies.?

She has 2 guppies: one turquoise and one red gold tuxedo. She also has 2 mollies: on black and one dalmation.

We went to feed the fish a little while age and i noticed there were little baby fish in the tank. they are very small and clear, all we could see what their body outline and eyes as they swam.

The guppies are supposed to both be male (but the red one has gotten really fat while the turquoise is still about the same size) and the mollies I'm not sure about, i dont know how to determine their sex. We've only had these fish for about 2 weeks.

How do i figure out which fish had the babies and how do i figure out if the mollies are male or female?

Also how do i care for the baby fish? i dont have any money right now to get a breeder for them and i have no idea what they eat.

Most important thing is to place plenty of weed in the tank. If the babies can't hide, the adults will eat them. Babies will feed on the weed and leftover flakes of the fish food.

Get the babies out. Just put them in an old bowl then later gat a small tank or a fish bowl. Then once they can't fit in the mollies mouth they can be with the others.nd feed them mashed up flake food. The mollies anal fin ( the fin on the bottom closest to the back). Males will have it flat. Females like a fan. It's same with guppies. Mollies can give birth about four times a year. And the same for guppies but maybe twelve. They will both have at least ten at the most fifty or so.

    Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!

You can get little net breeders that hook onto the tank, their only like 10 bucks give or take. Sexing fish is pretty simple but every fish is different. I recommend you google search that. Chances are it was the mollies and not the guppies, because guppies are usually just males if they have color like that.

try to get your daughter to understand that babies will be eaten and that's ok, you do not want hundreds of mollies and guppies.

do not mess up your tank trying to save baby fish.

just add some more decorations/plastic plants and some babies will survive, just not hundreds of them.

note; mollies give birth every month at least, and have dozens , up to about 40, every time.

well here's whats going to happen. some, hopefully most, of the baby fish will get eaten. it depends on if the babies have places (like plants) to hide in. Sometimes pet stores will take those babies if you can catch them and bag them. Those fish can get out of hand.
