What would it take for the Christian Church to be united again?

Roman Catholics, Protestants, and Eastern Orthodox are all united under the Nicene Creed. (With the minor difference of who the Holy Spirit Proceeds from (Just the Father, or both the Father and the Son?) in the updated creed at Chalcedon, I believe) I think there would have to be some give and take on all sides. Assuming that coming under the authority of the Pope is likely out of the question for most non-Roman-Calthoics, how could the church be united again? Give your opinion, I'm interested to hear. (Oh and I'm Evangelical, but Ecumenically-minded)

Update:

"In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity" - St. Augustine of Hippo

Update 2:

@David W: While there are some things I disagree with what Roman Catholics believe, you are wrong to say they are not remotely connected. Like I mentioned, we are all connected through the Nicene Creed. Our belief in God as the Trinity for instance. That Jesus is Lord, and that Salvation is only through him. The good news is not a particular doctrine of salvation, but that Jesus is Lord. We are not saved BY believing in Salvation by Grace through faith alone (though I believe that is HOW we are saved.)

Update 3:

@Corey: That's actually not true that the roman catholic church is larger than all other denominations put together. There are more Pentecostals than Catholics now for instance.

Update 4:

@Amilyah: This verse is primarily referring to inter-personal relationships within a local church. Though what you are saying is something that should grow out strong local churches, the desire to be bound in the unity of love to other churches. There will always be differences of opinion in various points of doctrine, and I don't think that's a bad thing. What unites us is not having the exact same details in all our beliefs but by mutual submission and love and acceptance of eachother.

"Philip Melanchthon, Martin Luther’s advisor in the Reformation, is the one who first said, “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things charity”. " [1]

As the site points out, first one must agree on what "essentials" are. A correct doctrine of God, one would think, would be essential. If one doesn't care about what another thinks is essential, can they actually agree? "This is vital!" "Whatevs." That cannot be agreement, and there can be no unity.

    Blessings.

The Christian god would have to be real, and it would have to actually do something to interact with the world instead of irrationally relying on what is indistinguishable from people making things up. If a religion were accurate, there would be no schisms.

"Assuming that coming under the authority of the Pope is likely out of the question for most non-Roman-Calthoics, how could the church be united again?"

Not only is Roman Catholicism the largest denomination, it is larger than all the other denominations put together.

this is how the question should be formed: what will it take for the Protestants to reunite to Roman catholicism? and when will Roman catholicism reunite itself to the east?

As for protestants reuniting to the Roman catholics, that's a bit of a stretch, there are many many many denominations under to rubric of protestantism. but as for the catholic church and eastern orthodoxy reuniting I would say that it is possible. but there would have to be MAJOR changes. speaking mostly on the roman catholic side. the major stepping stone being the holy see. that's the main reason why Catholicism and eastern orthodoxy split up in 1054 AD. In other words, it probably will not happen. but as you have pointed out, we are united in a mystical way, under the nicene creed.

For a real god to be imagined! I mean to show up! No gods or devils or heavens or hells exist anywhere outside of any ones properly inculcated mind! The only possible truth since the bile say's you need a (pretend fake) belief of faith to even believe any gods or devils are believable! Where do you get this, (pretend fake) belief of faith then? You get it from the religions brainwashing priests not from any man made up truths!

they must all be of the same mind - and it just ain't gonna happen

God knows his true Christian church and he saves her

1Cr 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and [that] there be no divisions among you; but [that] ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

If Jesus himself came down and told them to unite.

Catholicism is not remotely connected to Christianity.

Education would probably have to be banned worldwide.
